who last week probably prevented an
angry mob from virtually tearing the

had man-mauled both Joe Hubka and

scheduled to meet Floyd Wolfgang,
local speed merchant. In the 30-mln-ute
opener. Clayton cornea to Med
ford for the first time with an ex
cellent reputation, while Wolfgang
Impressed the fans with his first
appearance here In a whirlwind tussle
last week.

Elliott repeated hla mat victory over
Bulldog Jackson last night In a wrest
ling match refereed by fans more one
of alley fighting than wrestling. A

falls by the former Oregon coach.
Jackson took the first fall with a
choke hold which Rereree Noel Frank
lin was unable to break before Elliott
gave up. The second fall went quick
ly to Elliott on a series of Sonnen
bergs. The third fall was taken by
Elliott with Jackson's own favorite
hold, the hammerlock, followed by
stomping on the arm.

Two tough fighters who won by
knockouts on the Elks-CCC card three
week ago. will be pitted against each
other in one of the feature fights of
the Elks' plcnlo card Friday evening.
Mickey O'Brien. 160-poUnder of Oak
Knoll, who knocked out Sczepanakl of
Oregon Caves In the second round of
their special event three weeks ago,
will be pitted against Ed Slattery of
South Fork, who kayoed Wallls of
Oasquet. also in the second round.
The two fighters are anxious to
continue the Oak Knoll-South Fork
feud which started when Rudy Lezar
of South Fork knocked out De Shields
of Oak Knoll in a spectacular main
event several week ago. De Shields
has challenged Leaar for another shot
at the district' unoflclal middle
weight title and Lezar has agreed to
meet the great colored scrapper.
De Shields was unable to appear
on trie last card because or a cut
hip, but If the camp surgeon gives
hla approval, he will be here Friday
evening with blood in his eyes and
ready for battle. De Shields knocked
out Olabb of Humbug In a spectac
ular main event several months ago,
and ha been a consistent winner
until hla match with Lexar. De Shields
aays he "stepped Into one" that time,
but will bo loaded for Lezar Friday
evening.
A big card Is being planned by
Captain William O. Ryan, district
athletic officer. Fifty fighters will
be brought In and examined and only
these in the best physical condition
will be given an opportunity to fight.
This assures fast action during the
three-round bout.
SOCIAL PROGRAM
IS PREPAREC
It will not be all competition and
no play for the gunners who are to
participate In the big Oregon state
trap shoot. It was made known today
by T. E. Daniels, president of the
Medford Oun club. Several social
events will ease the tension of the
tournament for the men, while visit
ing women will be made welcome by
a committee composed of the wives
of club members.
Visiting gunners will be entertain
ed by the local club Friday night at
the Elks' picnic and boxing show at
the Rogue river grove.
On Saturday evening the annual
dinner and election of officers of the
Oregon Trapshoottng association will
be held at the Hotel Medford.
Present officers of the state associa
tion are T. E. Daniels, Medford, presi
dent; Angus McAllister, La Grande,
vice-president, and J. C. Morris, Port
land, secretary.
For the women accompanying the
visiting trnpshooters a bridge lunch
eon will be held at the Hotel Medford
at 1 o'clock Saturday. Those plan
ning to attend should notify E. W.
Pease, secretary of the local club, by
Saturday morning. It was announced
by President Daniels.
The committee In charge of enter
tainment for visiting women Is com
posed of Mrs. O. O. Alenderfer. Mrs.
E. C. Jerome, Mrs. Jack Porter, Mrs.
Joe Terry 'and Mrs. S. O. Mendenhall.
Provision has been made for sight
seeing airplane flight over the city
for the visitors during their stay In
Medford.

pected." That Is the way the Pacific
Motorist and Sportsman, a magazine
published In San Francisco for motor
ists and sportsmen of the entire Pa
cific coast area, describes the big
trapshoot which opens here tomor
row.
In connection with the two -page
story, illustrated with southern Ore
gon scenes. Is a description of the
many fishing spots near here, and
data concerning all the lakes and trout
streams. "In southern Oregon," the
story says, "the sportsman will find
his fondest vacation expectations In
the month of June. Splendid high
ways, fine camping and hotel accom
modation and the world's best fish
ing are available."
Publicity for this city and all of
southern Oregon Is being printed in
all parts of the United States, offi
cials ot the gun club have indicated.
