IE WARN
NORTH CHINA TO
TOKYO, Friday, May 31. (UP) A
government spokesman said today
that the Japanese army In North
China has warned authorities there
to suppress anti-Japanese activities or
the army will be obliged to act.
The spokesman said he did not
consider the warning amounted to
an ultimatum since no definite time
limit was mentioned.
He said that the Kwantung (Jap
anese) army In the demilitarized zone
south of the Great Wall of China had
learned that Chinese officials tn Teln-
tsin and Peiolng had directed bandit
activities in the zone, approved or
ganization of an army and political
training bureau after the Tangku
truce, and countenanced the "blue
shirts" and other anti-Japanese or
ganizations. Recent assassination of Chinese
editors, who "were employes of the
Japanese Kwantung army", was an
other breach, the spokesman said.
"I do not know what action will
be taken In event of Chinese non
compliance." he added, "but the pol
icy of the Kwantung army Is to main
tain peace and order under the
Tangku truce which the assassina
tion of the editors plainly violated."

that local people should use more of
the fine quality local vegetables and
fruits."

make 10 glasses of wonderful
jam ... in less than 15 minutes
after the fruit is prepared!
JUST read that recipe above! See how
easy it is! Notice that only 2 quarts
of berries make 10 glasses of jam.
All Certo recipes are just as easy
and just as economical. Vith Certo,
you boil jellies only !i minute; jams
only a little longer. None of your
juice boils away. That's why you get so
much jam or jelly . . . half again more
than by the old, "long-boilA way.
That's why, too, that jelly and jam
are so much better tasting; short boil
ing retains all the natural flavor of
the ripe, fresh fruit! (No "boiled
down" taste when you use Certo.)
And the whole job takes less than tj
minutes after the fruit is prepared.
So why don't you get berries, sugar
and Certo right away! Put up a gen
erous supply of jam and jelly to last
the rest of the year. Think how good
they will taste next winter in tarts,
puiiUings, jelly rolls and ice cream!
