One year ago today Mra. Ollva Dlonne
turned a wan, frightened fao to the
midwife who stood at her bedside,
and naked weakly:
"Were they triplet V
"Yes, Elzlre and two more."
Such va the drama of the ram
shackle farmhouse on May 38. 1934,
that was remembered today with cer
emonies, gilts and best wishes the
first birthday anniversary of the
Dlonne quintuplets.
Parents Bitter.
In their parents' farmhouse
Yvonne. Annette, Ceclle. Smile and
Marie have a new, spick and span
home across the road, with the flag
of England flying before it. They are
ward of his Majesty the King.
A solemn high mass at 8 a- m., east
ern standard time, &t Sacred Heart

had been asked to attend, but late
yesterday Dlonne requested that the
high mass be sung at Callander In
stead. He was told that the mass would
be at Corbell as planned, and the
!n1tlon to attend was urged on
him again.
Will Broadcast.
Nothing further was planned tot

ceremonies will talce place at the lit
tle hospital by the side of the road,
with Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe, Minister
CroU, Dr. Routley and members of
the hospital staff participating.
This will not be public, for the
hospital provides no suoh facilities
but the affair will be broadcast In
ternationally between 5 and S:30 p.
m. (eastern standard timee, 3 and 3:30
p. m.. Pacific time). A record ver
sion of the broadcast will be put on
the air over some stations at 9 p. m
The babies themselves will make
their radio debut, provided they feci
up to It and Dr. Dafoe agrees, by
offering such sounds as they feel in
clined to make into & thoroughly
sterilized microphone.

On Seventy-fourth Birthday
Members of the adult Christian En
deavor of Phoenix met at the J. S.
Brniar home on Coleman creek. Sun
day evening. Visitors joined in the
devotional service. Following thlt
refreshments of cake, cookies and
fruit punch were served. Mr. Bonar
was presented a beautiful angel food
cake, gift of flowers and other re
membrances from the society honor
ing his seventy -fourth birthday.
Covered Dish Luncheon
For Relief Corps Thursday

covered dish luncheon for Union
Veterans at the Presbyterian church
Thursday noon. It was announced

Mlse Irene Brewold. graduate of
Medford high school, returned to
her home here last night from lone.
Ore., where she has been teaching
during the past year. The school at
lone school closed Friday.

From California Visit
Mrs. W. H. Payne returned today
from a month's visit at San Francisco,
where she was a guest at the Hotel
Stewart.

honored at a farewell party Samr
day evening at Bonney's Ortll, given
by a group of their friends. They
will leave the first of next week
for Reno, New. to be with Mrs.
Strang's lather. James Crawford, and
will make their home in that city.

who entertained for eight. Including

the approaching marriage of her

The wedding, which will t;ke place
in Medford, was announced for
the first week in June.

Hollywood Visits
Pinto Colvig. widely-known handy
man In the sound effects depart
ment of Walt Disney's studios at
Hollywood, arrived yesterday for a
few days' visit here with his father.
William Colvig. Pinto, who visited
here last year during the Jubilee,
has been heard from probably every
cinema screen in the country, either
through his comical singing or his
diversified squeeks and squawks on
a clarinet In Disney's Silly Symphonies.
