his wife nnd frlenda, J. H. Snyder
left Friday to resume his work with
the Pacific Fruit company at EI
Centro, Calif. He will atop in San
rrancisco and Los Angeles on his
way south.
Mr. nnd Mrs. E. L. Farm, who
have both been on the sick list for
several days, are recovering.
Mrs. Ida Graves spent the week
end with friends in Holland, Ore.

quilting party in their hall Satur
day, June 1, with the regular busi
ness meeting at 2 p. m. All mem
bers are urged to attend. Hall will

Mr. and Mrs. Mlnnlck and son
Herbert, accompanied by Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Booth, left early Sunday
for Crescent City. They enjoyed din
ner In the redwoods, returning at
nlffht. This was the first time Mrs.
Booth had seen the ocean, having
come from the middle wost. She
thoroughly enjoyed It.

mander of the Ninth Corps Area,
has been making an Inspection of
the Columbia river defenses at Fort
ate vena and Fort Canby.
General Malone said the Columbia
river la one of the strategic points
along the Paclflo coast and com
mented that It la evident, in view
of existing conditions, that It must
be further developed from a military
standpoint.
