when he defeated Dr. William Twed
de!l. a 38-year-old British physician,
one up. In 36 holes and wone the
British amateur frolf championship
for the second straight time.
Thus the burly. 24-year-old San
Francisco shotmaker became the first
player In history to win three con
secutive national amateur golf crown
and the third man ever to register a
"double" In the 60 yenrs of this cham
pionship. During a sensational struggle which

final hole to assure victory, the Amer
ican skillfully got off one of the most
testing shots of the tournament,

lery of almost 10.000 which had
rerged on riotous conduct over the
prospect of witnessing Little's down
fall. Standing on the 36th hole, Little
had his opponent donnle one. Twed
dell, having the honor by virtue of
winning the previous hole, divided
the fairway with a 250-yard drive.

The annua Medford Gun club
classic, the Mall Tribune trophy
shoot, wilt be contested at the local
gun club grounds, north of the
Medford airport this morning.
Represented by their crack teams,
several Southern Oregon gun clubs
will enter their top shooters in the
hope that one of the target busters
will be able to show the skill that
will be required to take the trophy
away from Medford.
Last year the trophy was won by
William Bates, a feat that brought
the cov-ted trophy back from Klam
ath Falla. The Klamath shooters
have sent word to Medford that they
will be here In force and expect
to take the plaque back to Klam
ath. A program of 100 16-yard singles.
50 handicap targets nnd 25 pairs of
doubles will be shot in the tour
nament. Tills will be the last big
shoot staged at the local club
grounds previous to the big state
shoot which will be held June 13
to 16.
The Medford ground. have been
enlarged and improved and are now
the finest In the state and the
members arc anxious that the peo
ple of Medford will turn out to
day to witness the contest. Visitors
are welcome and their Is no ad
mission charge.
