GEORGE M'CLOUD
IN EASY FASHION
With a swell load nentence like
"when Greek meets Greek they atari
a restaurant, but when Greek meet
Wop they start a light" already set
up, the bulky Greek fire-eater. Deme
tra.1, failed to appear for his sched
uled blto ad bend match with Pet!
Belcastro at the Armory lat night
and no Mack LJllard sent George M"
Cloud Into the fray to pinch hit.
It Is doubtful, however. If McCloud
a nowcomer here, and unused to the
Belcastro method of handling recal
citrants, ever found out what hit
him, the flashy Italian disposing of
him in one-two style, In leas than
eight minutes of wrestling time.
McCloud showed some clever mat
work In the clinches, proving himself
adept at emerging from a Belcastro
special hold now and then toy the
use of scientific grappling. It Is par
ticularly difficult, though, to apply
scleiic to a speeding locomotive, his
one trip through the atmosphere onto
the floor outside the ring having con
vinced him early In tho second Xramfr
Belcastro looked fast and In gooi ,
shape nfter his recent barn-storming:
trip through the east and south, and j
he has picked up several new ways
of putting his feet in his opponent's'
face, but hi flying sonnenberg off
the ropes Is still his stock in trade
He served it piping hot to MoCloud
two or three time before that gen
tleman began to take steps to pre
vent It.
It took some time for Tony Catta
lino to arrive for the curtain raiser,
and when he did arrive It didn't do
him much good, losing two out of
tnree to Johnny Soos, the fair-haired
boy from Indiana. Soos was a busy
Individual during the evening's per
formance, running bare-footed about
the ring in a great hurry, apparent
ly trying to surround the mustachio
ed Italian.
One of the wild scenes of the first
fall, which took 20 minutes, wa
when Catallno bit his way out of a
bad situation. Soos, thinking that
what'a soon for the goose is soose for
the gander, promptly tore across thy
ring and planted his bicuspids In the
Catallno arm. Very funny. Catalino
didn't thnk so, however, and return
ed to the wars by worrying Soos with
a head lock to take the fall.
It took Soos Just four minutes to
even the count when he sonnenberg
ed the Italian Into subjection In tho
second
The match finally went to Soos on
& foul, after he had declined sever!
offers from Referee Ray Prlsble to
win by that route. At one point in
the last canto, the lad from Indiana
had Catallno by one arm, both feet
under the bad man's chops. From
there It was a simple step to grab
Tony's somewhat misshapen ear In
his toes, giving It a brisk workout,
much to the delight of the audience.
Soos challenged Belcaatro, winner
of the main event, to a meeting on
next week's card.

At Grants Pass, the game will
be played at the Josephine county

at Modoc field. Both battles are
slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
At Grants Pass It will be Hofard's

early season win over the league
leaders. Medford, weak In hurling
since the opening of the season, Is
dickering for a hurler, according to
Manager Hoffard, and If strings now

Frankle Earhart, with Al Drolette
back of the plate. Billy Calvert will
do the catching for Medford. It will
be the first league meeting for the

In leading his charges against
Klamath Falls, John Mlljus will

follow the rule will bring a 30-day
playing suspension and grounds for
a protested game against the team

An Old Friend of Your Father's
STATE TRAPSHOOT
10 BIG GALAXY
OF GUNNERS HERE
The Oregon state trap and skeet-
shooting championship tournament
to be held in Medford June 13 to
16 will be the largest of any state
shoot held in the United Stntes for
many years. The entire program Is
amply financed and the money is
In the bank. "Our only worry now
is whether we will be able to han
dle the shooters on the fine local
grounds without doubling the trap
facilities." was the statement made
today by T. E. Daniels, president or
the Medford Gun club.
The local shooting grounds have
been enlarged to accommodate as
many shooters as competed hi the
state shoot at Portland last year, the
largest in the United States, but
already clubs that competed last
year have advised the Medford club
that they will send the largest dele
gations to the Medford shoot that
have ever represented their respective
cities.
With Salem. Klamath Palls and
Eugene alone indicating a total at
tendance of 50 shooters, besides their
families, the local club Is getting
panicky as the opening day of the
great contest draws near.-
Hotels and auto camps have been
receiving reservations for the past
10 days, one entry being from Dela
ware, and others from Utah, Idaho,
Washington. Nevada and California.
Most of the visitors will attend the
entire four days of the shoot, and
many will be in Medford for the
entire weck.( after which they will
complete their vacations fishing at
Diamond and Crater lakes, Lake ot
the Woods and on Rogue river and
other Southern Oregon streams.
