Snider Dairy Started 30 Years Ago Enjoys Continued Expansion

the burkboard by the young Mr. and
Mrs. John Snider before starting on
a. round of the email town of Med
ford . Prospectl ve customer were
warned by a bell that the milk wagon
was making it dally delivery. If they
u-ere Interested they brought out
their dipper and bucket.
Traveling the main atreets of Med
ford In those dys was difficult even
for a horw and one time the milk
waa 'delayed on account of Loco get
ting atuck in the mud In front of tne
old Nash hotel, Mrs. Snider related
yesterday.
It waa in 1904 at Columbu. Ohio,
that Mr. and Mrs. Snider started for
Med ford. Oregon, on their honeymoon
trip, expecting to local on the L. B.
Warner ranch on the Jacksonville
highway. It was soon after that Snl
der'a dairy was organized on a small
scale. Business continued to improve
and after eight years they moved to
the Gore ranch where they kept 150
cows.
In 1020 Snlder's bought the Inde
pendence Creamery from S. K. Eld
rldge at the present location of the
new dairy plant. At that time the
dairy staff consisted of 13 employees,
four of whom are still working for
the creamery. Ten trucks have been
added elnce that time and the bust
zwvw has con ti tmed to grow until
Snider Dairy and Produce company
is nog recognised aa one of tha lead
ing dairies in Oregon.
Twenty -eight years ago Snlder's
introduced milk bottle in southern
Oregon and they vera also the first
to use milk tickets In this locality.
Their slogan "We led. others follow"
tndlcaws the progress! epirit of
the firm.
PORTLAND, May 15. (AP) In t
public proclamation on foreign trade
week. Governor Martin today urged
residents of Oregon to study care
fully fact concerning overseas com
merce, declaring, "trade understand
ing between nations protects and
preserves prosperity and paves the
way for lasting peace."
The proclamation for the special
week. May 19 to 25, was given the
Portland chamber.

dairy company and the entire
payroll Is one of the largest m Med
ford. In sddltlon to this there is an
extensive farm payroll, "flout hern
Oregon farmers and their families are
always welcome here and I want them
to make this their headquarters when
they sre in town," Mrs. Snider aald
yesterday.

lights, the clsas of 16 will present
"Clsrence. a four-act Tarkington
play, in the auditorium of the Med
ford senior high school this evening
at 8 o'clock.
It seems that Clarence, depicted
by Dolph Janes, Is a recently dis
charged soldier, veiled in e deep
shroud of mystery. It la later re
vealed that Clarence la a big "bug"
man from the horticultural depart
ment and knom's his beetles,
Miss Mildred Drury provides an
innovation in high school dramatics.
She lifts the plsy in a most refresh
ing manner, showing splendid voice
quality snd unrivaled stage poise.
Several scenes call for heart-rendering
sobs snd Miss Drury produces
them as only a true artist could.
Mt& Drury la Violet, the personable
governess of the Wheeler family.
Mr. Stem, taken by Bob Young. Is
a perfect example of a jilted lover,
and displays soms nice acting in
several scenes. The maid, played by
Betty Dynan, has an Irish brogue
that would fool even Mr. Oallager
or Mr. Sheen.
The sparkling satire is directed hy
Rex Robinson snd features the cream
of the high school dramatists snd
is due to make a smash bit with
MM ford audiences
Tickets will be on sale at the high
school tonight until eurtsln time, $
