thirst led the baby to drink a large
bottle of black ink. Mrs. Geary, think

The tot was rushed to the hospital
on Oeary'a motorcycle. Doctors de
clared the Ink non-polsonoua and
said the baby would suffer no ill

Extension Division of the Oak Grove
Community club met at the home of
Mrs. J. W. Gustafson, May 3 and
made fancy bread. There waa a good
attendance. The following officers
were elected for the coming year;

chairman, Mrs. Iva Thomas; secretary-treasurer,
Mrs. B. E. Brill. Theru
will be a meeting some time In June

Mrs. Lundy returned Saturday from
Portland, where she has been visiting
for the last month with her eons and
daughters. Mrs. Lundy welcomed two
of her granddaughters, born to Mr.
and Mrs.'Lundy's son and daughter
during her visit ln Portland.
Mrs. Alton Waldron returned from
Eugene last week, where sho has been
vinitlng relatives.
Mrs. George Hlles la visiting her

talned the Presbyterian guild at her
home on Jacksonville highway Mon
day evening. This Is on annual musi
cal which baa been given for the last
several years at Mrs. Pennington's
home. There were over sixty mem born
and guests present, Thre was very
enjoyable program of vocal, piano and
violin music and folk dancing. Re
freshments were served at a latehoui.
Mrs. C. W, Shores gave a bridge
luncheon Tuesday afternoon at her
home on Jacksonville highway. Her
guests were Mrs. Violet Wilson and
Mrs. Blanche Taylor of Medford and
Mrs. Anne McOulre of Jacksonville,
Mrs. J. W, Gustafson gave s dinner
party Wednesday evening celebrating
her son. Blllie Taylor's birthday. A
vory pleasant evening waa spent by
the young people. The guests were
Emma Lou Knlps, Alice May Brill,
Eva Taylor, Bernlce True and Deon
Ford. Robert Taylor and the honor
guest, Blllie Taylor.
Oak Grove Community club met
at the school house May 8. The year's
work was reviewed and reports show
all bills paid, Including bills for the
range and the milk. The opernta
given by the school was very success
ful, both as to being a very enjoy
able entertainment, also financially
as a nice sum was realized through
sale of the operetta tickets and sale
of the quilt donated by the Neigh
borhood club.
It was decided to hold a picnic at
the schoolhouse during the track
meet May 34. The following lunch
committee waa appointed Mrs. W.
Knlps. Mrs. Ethel Troxell and Mrs.
Iva Thomas. Plans were made for the
ensuing year and thu following offi
cers elected: President, Mrs. Dean

Root bought the turkey and took it
home. In Us craw he dbftovered
three checks, drawn on a Kansas City
bank, partially legible. They were
dated 120. Root hoped the turkey
wasn't that old.

changing hands rapidly. Everyone Is
hoping to get rich soon and there Is
feverish excitement in the air.
The chain letters furnish the main
topic of conversation and there are
many rumors In circulation as to ths
various returns purported to have
been received by those whose names
head the list.
Lyle Tame, postmaster, reports a
large Increase in volume of both the
incoming and outgoing mall with
the airmail chain-letter seeming to
be the more popular.
Sympathy of the community Is ex
tender! to Mr. Hubbard and other
members of the Hubbard family who
were receutly bereaved by the death
of "Grandma" Hubbard In Ashland
Community hospital Monday.
