HOMECOMING
TAMES ran the entire two miles
from the house at Oak and North
fifth to the Mansion. To his disor
dered imagination It seemed that
Jane was just behind him. a sort of
disembodied Jane, all staling eyes

new disease, a twin of diabetes, which
.'hows itRfilf in excessive hunger, was
reported to the American College of
Physicians today.
Scale Harris, M.D.. Profestior Emeri
tus of Medicine nt the University of
Alabama, made the report today.
"The new disease entity, hypcrin
nulism." his report said, "the opposite
condition to diabetes, results from
excessive secretion of insulin by the
pancreas."
Lack of insulin is the main cause
of diabetes.
"Hyprrlnsullsm." Dr. Harls re
ported, "has been called the "hunger
disease." because the victim of the
mild type frequently becomes excea
Hlvcly hungry, weak and nervous
three or four hours after meals. He
obtains relief by eating.
"In the more severe cases, the
nymptoms arc referable to the heart,
stomach and nervous system.
"The excessive use of sweets, par
ticularly candy, syrup, may cause
this new disease because they stimu
late. the pancreas to secrete an excess
of Insulin.
"Likewise the excessive use of cof
fee and alcoholic beverages have been
thought to be facts In certain cases.
