countryside was a flutter today over
the birth of 16 pound, 12 ounce,
daughter to Burlln P. and Mary A.
Goolsby.
Goolsby Is father of four previous
children, three living, none of whom
weighed more than 7'i pounds at
birth.
Mrs. Goolsby, who Is 30 years old
and weighs 160 pounds, waa pleased,
but calm, today over her record
sized daughter.
SAN FRANCISCO. May 3. (AP)
PI re Lieutenant Peter J. Maloney, 42,
labored frantically early today to re
vive his wife, Edith, when she was
stricken with an acute attack of aath
man. His efforts successful, he aat
down to rest. A few moments later
his wife addressed herself to him, but
he had apparently disappeared. She
arose from her bed to find him on
the floor, unconscious. When a doc
tor arrived he pronounced Maloney
dead from a heart attack.

Harry L. Hopkins said today that
"applications lor relief have been

The relief administrator added at
press conference that he had ob
tained preliminary flRures concern
ing the number on relief In each sec
tion and what they were fitted to
do under the $4,000,000,000 work
program.
The number on relief In Marcn
was given as 20,440.000. He gave no
figure on the present number.
AVIATOR DORBANDT IN
FIGHT WITH PNEUMONIA
FAIRBANKS, Alaska, May 3. (AP)
Frank Dorbandt, noted Alaskan
aviator, was In a serious condition
here today suffering from pneumonia.
Physicians said he had a fighting
chance. Dorbandt was recently in
jured at Takotna when the propeller
of his plane hit his hand and he sus
tained a heavy loss of blood.
