refused today to appoint a receiver
for the California assets of the West
ern Loan and Building Association,
headquarters of which are at Salt
Lake City.
The request for a receiver here waa
made In a lengthy complaint brought
by Marie D. Benson of Boise, Idaho,
and John Oroom of Oakland, stock
holders, in which they claimed there
had been fraud In handling the
funda and that In reorganisation of
the association, Utah state officials
had taken control of the concern af
ter threatening Ita officers.
The asaoclitlon operates In Utah,
Idaho, Montana. Washington, Oregon
Arizona, Nevada and California,
