school, according to students.
Work at the school Is divided. The
women (12 at the time of a legis
lative investigation) do the house
work, the laundry and the office
work. The men chop the wood for
the open fireplaces, plow and do
other heavy work.
Cooking Is left to the wife of the
college's handy man. The handy
man's Job Is to keep motor equip
ment repaired. Including a dozen or
more antiquated motor oats always
ready to take students and faculty
members to labor centers for practi
cal experience during uprisings.

mitories are monger with the quar
ters for the women and Instructors
the better equipped.

ian fruit can be Imparted to salads,
and I am sure that all who read

Especially for ttaoee who wlah to
prepare aaladi that will causa their
children and men-folk; to ling the
praise of their favorite cook, I am
suggesting two simple recipes call
ing for the use of natural, unsweet
ened pineapple juioe. (The syrup
in which sliced pineapple Is packed
Is excellent In its place, but must
not be used In these salads).
Molded Mayonnaise Salad
I packet l.mon Jello
H4 cup. boiling Hawaiian plneappla Jala,
I Uaapoon aalt
1 deeh, cayeoqa
Vt teaepoon WorteaMrshlrt aauc.
1 cup grated American cheeia
V cup mayonnale. dreeelnf, real thick
Dissolve Jello in boiling pineapple
Juice, add seasonings, chill until
cold and syrupy. Place in a bowl of
cracked, ice, and whip with egg
beater until fluffy and thick like
whipped cream. Combine cheese
and mayonnaise, and fold Into Jello.
Turn Into- molds, chill until firm.
Serve on crisp endive or chicory,
and garnish with radish roses and
sweet gherkins.

1 cup. Hawaiian pineapple Julc,
S tablelpoona gelatins
1 teaspoon dried tbrm.
1 teaepoon salt

Small can of aaperagu. Up.
In a saucepan place the tomatoes
with all of the seasonings and the

water from the can of asparagus.
Simmer slowly on the fire for about
20 minutes, or until the tomatoes
are very soft, then strain through a
fine sieve, press.lng through as
much of the pulp 'as possible.
While this is cooking, soak the
gelatine In Vi cup of the pineapple
Juice, Over this pour the, tomato
Juice, which has been heated to the
boiling point, and stir until dis
solved. Rinse Individual molds in
cold water, place the asparagus tips
in them ' In regular shapes, then
pour in a little of the gelatine mix
ture and leave In the Ice box to
harden. As soon as the mixture has
set, remove and add more ot the
gelatine until the mold is full.
Serve on crisp lettuce with may
onnaise or Louis dressing.

The lead change hands almost

Facts and figures show that at
present Britain runs the fastest
steam express train In the world, and
that Germany has the fastest train
in existence, a Diesel ttectrlo ex

Recently, a British engine, never,
years old, pulled a train 36B miles
In three hours and 81 minutes, an
average of 60.0 miles an hour, and
touched at one time the world rec
ord for steam of 108 miles an hour.

with, respectively, electric, rail-cnr,
and steam trains, is on.
Germany Is reported to be con
templating something fsster than the
Flying Hamburger; Italy Is develop
ing speedy rail-cars; and Britain Is
