An exposition association selected a site In mid-bay to hold a 1938 world's fair In celebration of the
completion of the San Francisco-Oakland bay bridge and the Golden Gate span. The shoals north of
Verba Buena Island, center of the bay structure, will be filled In and hold the buildings of the exposition.
