Lace curtains but how different!

Open weave nets as open as pos
sible with all over patterns, are so
versatile that they are being used
for ordinary curtains, glass curtains
and even draperies. The Idea started j
when a daring decorator, searching
for something new, discovered fish
net and used It for his windows.
Some of the most charming new
nets began really as accidents a
machine slip knotted threads too far
apart and the piece had to be put
away on the mistake shelf. Now these
errors are being deliberately repeated
to satisfy the public's demand for
the new kind of lace.
Cream, ecru or natural string color
are the Important colors, but these
nets can be dyed In blue, coral, green
and chocolate for special effects or
"semi-sheers' may be woven In sev
eral colors In plaid stripes. They are
delightful glass curtains with tbe
popular rough-textured homespun
cottons snd linens and sturdy sail
cloth draperies.
Cotton, linen, silk, synthetic fab
ric and patented transparent paper
give a wide choice of materials for
these nets. Think of a fish net made
of transparent paper In silvery white
or blue, mesh an Inch square, hung
strnlght and draped or swagcd at
the window of a modern bedroom,
dressing room, or even living room I
Long strands of string, stitched and
held together every 10 or 12 Inches,
with a broad string fringe at the bot
tom, make a fine curtain.
When used without draperies, the
lace net curtains may hang sill oi
floor length with shirred or pleated
headings. When windows are fairly
close together, the whole wall, In
cluding windows, may be covered
from floor to celling with net.

take charge of the department of thu
big store to handle those commodi
ties. Mr. Slettengren hoe had flf
teeen years' of experience In that
line, and la well qualified to help
the housewife in the selection of ma
terials to decorate her new rooms.
It would be foolish. Mr. Sletten
gren stated, to remodel an old room,
and then to leave the old drapes.
