at their home, having Buffered a bad
hemmorhage of the head and nose.
Her son Albert and wife of Klam
ath Falls and her daughter, Mrs.
Earl Persons of Sioux City, Iowa, are
at her bedside.
Phoenix Grange held their regular
meeting and supper last Tuesday
evening when all enjoyed a good
program and supper after the bust
ness meeting.
Grange circle met at the Orange
hall Wednesday, where the ladles
made four largo now comforters and
two crib sized ones for Mrs. Quack
cnbush and where the friends and
members gathered a good collection
of other bedding and articles of
wearing apparel for the family. Mr.
and Mrs. Quackenbush lost almost
all of their belongings last Monday
night when their home at the ex
periment station waa destroyed by
fire. The home wilt be rebuilt Just
aa soon as possible and they will con
tinue on at the station, where Mr.
Quackenbush la employed.
Oak Circle No. 342 of Phoenix la
giving a benefit supper this evening
at the Grange hall. Creamed chicken
and all the good things that the
Phoenix ladles are noted for will be
served, for a small sum.
Thimble club of Oak Circle of
Phoenix met at the pleasant home
of Mrs. Guy Bishop April 5 and held
their regular business meeting. About
sixteen members and Invited friends
and ex-membcra enjoyed a covered
dish luncheon at noon. The after
noon was spent in sewing and In
planning work for the coming fnll
bazaar.
The many friends of Mrs. F. M.
Sheets are glad to know that she
has been removed to her home and

(Spl.) Wednesday evening witnessed
a happy event at the home of a
well known resident. The occasion
was the silver wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mra. Herbert Elmore,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmore have been ac
tive workers In Applegate Grange
ever since Its Inception and the
membera wishing to show their ap
preciation planned a surprise for
them. Ovpr 60 membera were present
and the house was filled with mer
riment when the surprise material
ized. Everyone brought- cakes and sand
wiches which were served with cof
fee which aided In making the even
ing a memorable one.
At the beginning, after the happy
couple were escorted to seats of
honor, several soloa were rendered
by Mra. Frank Knut7,n, accompanied
by Mrs. Charles Mee. after which
they were presented with a silver
service by the membera of the
grange. Then followed a mock mar
riage ceremony which was a real
comedy. The partlclpanta were Ed
win Andrcn, groom, Mrs. Tom Mee,
blushing bride with little Dickie
Frank and Beverly Mee as ring and
riower bearers. The ceremony waa
conducted by Frank Knutzen who
"did his stuff" In a praiseworthy
manner ending by chaining the happy
couple together.
Luncheon followed shortly after
wards with Mr. and Mrs. Elmore
seated with the following anteata
who had been present at the mar
riage, 25 years before, ranged around
the table.
