The Jackson county bridge over
Besr creek. 310 feet In length, near
Tolo, has been completed and Is open
to traffic. It serves a large territory.
Including a number of orcharda and
farms. It is ths first of the struc
tures to be finished under the bridge
building program of the county court,
according to County Engineer Paul B.
Rynnlng.
Work of "redecklng" the Little
Butte creek bridge near Eagle Point
will atart soon, according to Engineer
Rynnlng. Lumber for true work has
been ordered. A score of bridges and
culverts In the county are scheduled
to be repaired or rebuilt under the
bridge progrsm.
Pour grsders are now busy smooth
ing and regradlng county roads. A
oounty rock crusher Is operating
near Bybee bridge, turning out ma
terial for the Table Rock road oiling
Jobs.
' Oiling of county roads under the
county five-year oiling program, and
on a co-operative basis, will not start
until after June 1, according to
County Engineer Rynnlng.
Roads luted for oiling to date are:
Road runnlag east from Central
Point to the Crater Lake highway,
the Airport road, East Main street In
Ashlsnd, the Vsiley View rosd, the
pern Vsiley 'road, the Rogue Rlver
Wlmer road. Kings highway. Voorhles
road, Butte Palls and the Table Rock
road.
ASK IRE TIME
An extension of time to prepare the
appeal to the state supreme court In
the conviction of Oeorge High and
Robert (Bsbe) High, Ashland real-
dents under state prison sentences
for the burning of the Bslfour-Quth-
rle barn In January, 1033, will be
asked, Attorney Oeorge M. Roberts,
counsel for the High brothers, said
today. The High brothers were sen
tenced to four-year prison terms arTQ
are at liberty on bonds pending ap-pesl.
The court granted until May 1 to
file the appeal. It preparation has
been delayed, Attorney Roberts said.
