THE GRANGE
Central Point Grange.
Central Point Omnia

As announced recently. nro-
gram circuit has been planned to be
participated in by several of the
granges, and will continue, with
one program a month, until the
last la given at the Orange hall in
Phoenix In October.
Chalra for the business meeting
were filled by the officers of the
Central Point Orange, the lecture
program was furnished by the Phoe
nix Orange and consisted of two
ahort shits, vocal solos, duets, piano
solo, instrumental music, short talk
on April Fools Day, and group
singing. The program waa planned
by the educational committee and
the lecturer of Phoenix Orange.
Masters of the following granges
were present: Bellvlew, Jacksonville.
Talent, Live Oak and the master
of the new grange at Gold Hill, also
the Pomona master, Mr. Andrews .
A cup whloh had been purchased
by the Phoenix Orange waa present
ed to the Central Point Orange, and
will be kept In their possession until
they present the lecture program at
the Talent Orange, at which time
they will present the cup to that
grange' who will bold It until the
third meeting when they will pre
sent It to the. next grange.
Roll call found the following
grsngea represented: Bellevlew, with
12S members, and 30 present; Jack
sonville, with 72 members and 80
present; Central Point, with 22B
members and 67 present; Talent,
with 64 members and 20 present;
Phoenix, with 80 members and 44
present. Also visitors froji Apple
gate, and Live Oak were present.
Eagle Point had one member repre
sented. The program circuit to ba followed

Talent to Jacksonville, June 26;
Jacksonville to Belle view, July 2;
Belleview to Boxy Ann, August 9;
Roxy Ann to Eagle Point, September
3; Eagle Point to Phoenix October 8.

Orange waa scheduled June 14, but
aa this falls during week of Btate
Orange, the meeting will be held
on the last meeting of the month
Instead. In all other Instances the
programs will probably be presented
on the first meeting night of each
month of the grange entertaining.
Refreshments Friday night were
served by the Central Point Orange,
with a small portion of them being
furnished by the other granges.
These programs are expected to
grow in Interest and In attendance

last program In October at Phoenix
to the grange that hag had the
largest total attendance, baaed upon
membership of their grange.

Mrs. W. B. Scott, daughter, Joyce,
and Uncle. Mid Self all of Oklahoma,
arrived here Saturday evening, April
6, and are house gucBts of Mr. and
Mrs. 8. V. Hutchinson. The Scotts
were here 12 years ago for the sum
mer and have wanted to come back
to Oregon for several years and are
looking for a location with the expec
tation of locating nere permanently.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Segesaman and
little daughter, Mary, have returned
from Eugene, where they apant sev
eral days visiting Mra. 8egessman's
sister, Mrs. E. Vau&son, and family.
Wayne Ash, accompanied by his
mother, Mrs. Francis Ash. and Mrs.
Lizzie Nichols, drove to Butte Falls
Sunday afternoon.
Boyd Tucker arrived home from
Ashland Monday evening and Mra.
Tucker will return April 14. Mra.
Tucker la stilt with their daughter,
Mra. Flock, at Eureka. Cal., who un
derwent a goiter and tonsil operation.

was given over to Professor Brewster
of the Hodgen-Brewster mills, who

and raising baby chicks and turkeys.
Mrs. Robinson and Mr. and Mrs. Alan
Potter were visitors. Mrs. Letsy Mil
ler reported that a very neat sum
was taken tn at the carnival.

San Jose and will spend the summer

first of a esrlea of dances planned by
the chamber of commerce was given
Saturday night. The management
reported a record crowd and a good
time. Supper was served at midnight
by the campflre girls for a nominal
price, adding to the funds In their
local treasury. Music waa furnished
by Boone 'a orchestra.
Among those attending the dance
at Leland Friday evening were Mrs.

PORTLAND, April 10 (AP) Negoti
ations with two manufacturers of
whisky had today relieved the newly
organized Oregon liquor control com
mission of a heavy "overstock" of
slow-moving brands ordered by the
old commission.
One company, It was learned after
an executive session of the board last
nUcht, has agreed to cancel an order
on 3.300 cases and has reduced the
price by a 1.50 a case on another lot
ot 850 oases. Another company has
agreed to exchange 2.000 cases of
slow-moving brands for more popular
bottles.
As a result of the compromise, rt
was said, tt Is believed the commis
sion will be able to clean up tha
transactions without loss to the com
mission's revenue.
