Surveys of chief streams on the en

mining the best methods of con
trol ing or eliminating floods which
take a heavy damage toll each year,
are provided for In seven bills before
the house flood control committee.
Rep. Mott R.. Ore.) said the
bills would provide for war depart
ment surveys In all streams in Tilla
mook county, the Umpqua, Coqul lie-
Rogue. 81 unlaw, Yaqulna and 611 eta
rivers. The surveys Mott explained,
would be the first step at control ing
the flood waters which often sweep
over rich agricultural lands.
The general appropriation of the
war department for such purposes
would cover the cost of the surveys
War department appropriations would
provide funds, later, for necessary
flood control work.

basketball fan.
Sams VaOey Warriors
Some are abort and some are tall.
Look out Rogues we've got the ball,
Harold and Jerald and Mclvln. too,
Say "Come on Lloyd and put her
through."
Lewis and Burrel say "Don't you see?
The championship has got to be,
And so the Rogues worked hard and
fast
To win the game until the last.
But when at last the game waa o'er
Sams Valley came out with the score.
And Mr. Empey said, "Boys now you
see
I said you'd win If you stuck to me,
Laat year the championship you won
And got It this year too, by gum.
And since basketball has begun
This makes eight trophies Sains Val
ley haa won.
Since the crow blasting Incident
at Ray dam, farmers have noticed a
