MATEO
'T'HE guards lassoed the first roan
to bolt from line, threw him flat
on nil face, and beat his back raw
with their whips. Afterwards they

Interest Is being sonwn In the clashes
being conducted in Talent under the
FEUA plan of adult education. Mr.
McCuIloch. educational advisor for
the local CCC, reports there Is now
an enrollment of 28, and promise of
more people becoming Interested as
the studies progress. Although the
classes are primarily for the CCC boys
stationed here, they are open to any
one, and a number of local peonle
have already registered, Mr. McCuI
loch states.
Mrs. Helen Beecher of the Talent
high school faculty and Mr. Wiley,
who Is now attending Ashland Nor
mal, will conduct classes In com
mercial law, shorthand and public
speaking, on Tuesday and Thursday
evenings of each week.
