that Toggery Bill knows every Rogue
steel he so" by Its first name. Many
people of prominence, Including ex
preeldent Herbert Hoover, have en
Joyed the hospitality of Mr. Isaacs at
his beautiful Big Rock Lodge on
Rogue river and been Initiated Into
the mysteries of Rogue river steelhend
fishing by the well known Medford
angler and merchant.

In a surprise ceremony at Ashland,
held at the Presbyterian parsonage at
9:16 the evening of Feb. 31, Miss Mar
garet Childers, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. A. M. Childers of Kings highway,
was married to Wilbert R. Krumm.
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Krumm, of
St. Joseph Mo. Hev. Merle h. Kdwardi
of Ashland officiated.
The wedding came as a delightful
surprise to many In Medford and
vicinity where both the bride and
bridegroom are popular members of
the younger set. Mr. Krumm li ob
server at the U. S. weather bureau
stationed at the municipal airport.
Mr. and Mrs. Krumm returned Im
mediately to Medford sfter the wed
ding and are making their home at
6LS South Oskdale avenue. They are
planning a trip east In the summer.

Five state leaders In the women's
work of ttio Baptist denomination

13, to hold an all-day meeting with
the ladles of the local church. Mrs.
Russell Thomas, Mrs. H. 8. Sherwood,
Mrs. C. D. Hageman, Mrs. J. Fred
Bell, and Mrs. Huntley, a worker from
the Chinese mission In Portland, will
be present.
The meeting will begin at 10 a. m.
A covered dish luncheon will be
served at noon. The ladles are asked
to bring a vegetable or a salad as all
other courses are to be provided by
the committee In charge.

Vestrymen's Dinner

One of the delightful social events
of the week was tho dinner and en
tertainment given by the vertrymen
of 8t. Mark's Guild last night at the
Guild hall on North Oak dale, In hon
or of the ladlea of St. Mark's Guild,
tho Altar Guild, Ladles' auxiliary.
Sunday school teachers and choir. In f
appreciation of the work of these or- '
ganlsatlons during the last year.
Tho dinner was served with the
vestrymen dressed In white coats and
caps In true "diner" style. The tables
were attractively decorated with
snapdragons and candles.
The Glee men's sextet presented two
numbers before and two after the
dinner, all of -which wero well re
ceived. Ray Henderson gave two clev
er recitations.
Cards were plsyed during the rest
of the evening, with high score at
contract going to Mrs. R. C Mulhol
land and high score at auction to
Mrs. David H. Canfleld.

Music lovers of southern Oregon
are centering their Interest In
the second winter symphony concert
to bo presented at Ashland tonight
by Ward Croft's orchestra.
The concert, which last winter was
acclaimed ono of the most delightful
musical presentations of the year,
will be held at the Ashland Elks'
club. Among the featured artists will
be Delores Rodriguez Sperling, tal
ented Spanish singer, and Lawrence
Hubert, violinist.

It was Just a simple birthday party
with cards, music and ice cream. Yet
to Mrs. Lee C. Port of the Star ranger
station, In whose honor the surprise
party was given Monday evening, the
event will long bo remembered. Nine

arranged the party In gratitude for
the many kindnesses and privileges
extended to them at the ranger sta
tion. It's Just a little hard for boys to
carry out social plana without the
conveniences of homo, but determina
tion wins, and tho major problem was
solved by borrowing an Ice cream
xreeeer from a neighbor, A trip to a
nearby canyon furnished snow for
tho freezing quail tie, but the next
question how to make lco cream.
Tho boy telephoned Mrs. Port for a
recipe, and obtained permission to
prepare It at her home.
The nature of the evening's prepa
rations was revealed when the nine
young foresters entered tho house,
each extending birthday greetings.
Tho refreshments wero soon complet
ed when Mrs. Port made a cake which
