Peebles Fined Jas. Peebles, arrest
ed for speeding on West Main street,
was fined $5 and costs of $4.50 in
Justice court yesterday.
Mrs. Walker Better Mrs. A. E.
Walker of Talent, who has been con
fined to her bed for the last three
weeks with Illness, is slowly Improv
ing, it was reported.

Mrs. Strauss Recovering Mrs. Al
bert Strauss, of Sams Valley, confined
for the pa3t two weeks In a Portland
hospital, is getting along nicely, ac
cording to word received here.
In Portland Hospital O. H. Sam
uels, who recently underwent two
minor operations In a Portland hos
pital. Is reported getting along nice
ly. He has been in the northern city
for two weeks, and Is expected to re
turn to Medford in a week or ten
days.
Brault to Portland J. B. Brault.
manager of the Southern Oregon Gas
corporation, left Saturday evening on
the Shasta for Portland, where he
will confer with J. A. Ward, president
of the company, from San FranclECO,
on business matters. On Monday Mr.
Brault will return to Medford, while
Mr. Ward returns, by the Cascade
route, to his home In San Francisco.
Hens Set Record Al Hildreth of
Butte Falls, reported that he has 13
young hens that lay from 10 to 12
eggs per day. One day last week Hil
dreth said .his prized fowls furnish
ed him with 14 eggs, and one of these
was a double egg. He also has two
eggs preserved that were layed last
summer, one measuring 6 Vi Inches
around and four Inches long.

paper Thursday relative to a prize
won by Miss Frances Combe, errone
ously stated that Miss Carln Deger

economics department of the local
high school. The statement should
have read that Mrs. Gertrude Gates
" was Instructor In that department.
Miss Degermark Is In the physical
education department.
Stoll Passes Away Robert O. Stoll.
17, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Stoll
of Napa, Cal., died In that city Fri
day evening of pneumonia, according
to word received here. H9 was ac
quainted in Medford with many of
the younger set, having been a guest
here for three weeks of Bill Barnum.
His visit to Medford was made two
years ago. Surviving are his mother
and father, two sisters and one
brother, according to local friends.
Starts Work In Washington Miss
Geraldlne Thompson, formerly with
the Crater lake national park service
offices here, has started work tn the
new agricultural building, depart
ment of plant Industry, at Washing
ton, D. C.,- according to word recelv
k ed. Miss Thompson recently received
an appointment to the Washington
position, having also been employed
by the government at Pullman, Wash.
She made the trip east via New Orleans.
