St. Mark's Guild
Entertains Friday
At Colonial Party
Among the outstandlnd sod si
evrnt of the wk was the Colonial
party, sponsored Friday by the ladles
of St. Mark's Guild. Twenty-four
tables of cards were In play durllig
the afternoon with honors going to
Mrs. J. H. Cochrun. Mrs. J. H. O'Con
nor and Mrs. Hose Schelffelln.
On entering the Guild Hall the
guests were greeted by the com
mittee, dressed in colonial costume
The decorations In the hsll were
befitting Washington's birthday Mrs.
John Peter and Mrs. Clyde Enkln
resided at the tea table.
The nroffram was given at the i
cIom of the afternoon by Mrs. R. C
Mulholland.
Miss Mary Kem. who has the lead
and Miss Constance Moore, both In
the hlah school operetta, "Chimes
of Normandy." sang selections from
the production, accompanied by Miss
Dorothy Burgess at the piano, They
were In costume.
One of the most enjoyed parts of
the program was the first violin pre
sentation of little Richard Bishop.

He Dlaved several patriotic airs.
Piano selections by Miss Alice
Holmbech were well received, as were
violin numbers by Miss Dorothy
Oore. During the program Martha
and Oeorire Washington were Imper-
nnntri in a minuet.

for the nroeram and teB.
Other members of the committee
were Mrs. John Barnenurg. Mrs. van
Gilbert and Mrs. Hnl Piatt.

Mrs. Laura M. West was hostess on
Thursday evening at hor home, 344
North Bartlett. Inviting 14 guests for
dinner. The evening was spent at
bridge, high score going to Miss Ora
Cox. Quest prlae was won by Mrs.
Helena Woodley of Seattle, who Is
the guest In Medford at the home or
Miss Claire Gunellus. Mrs. J. V.
Rogers received consolation prize.
Those enjoying the evening were:

The Alpha Delta class of the Chris
tian ohurch will meet with the Men
Bible class this (Sunday) morning at

To Sponsor Purty.
The V. F W. Auxiliary will give
another or their card partlea Thurs
day afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, at the
home of Mrs. Joe Wood. 8 South
Orange street. These card parlies are
open to the public. Prizes will be
given and refreshments served.
The Auxiliary gave a similar card
party at the Armory Thursday after
noon. Brldse and five hundred were
played. Mrs. Joe Wood won first In
bridge with Mrs. Dick Wandrey low
Mrs. George Averlll won first in five
hundred with Mrs. Tom K. Flynn
low. Refreshments were served.

At Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Wom
en's Missionary society of the Presby
terian church was held at the home
of Mrs A. R. Clement Tuesday after
noon with more thnn 40 present. The
rooms wero beautifully decorated
with spring flowers.
The following officers were elected
for the coming year: President, Mrs.
George Oliver; first vice-president,
Mrs. A. R. Clement; second vice-presi

motif, and even the favors were In

Luncheon waa served at one o'clock,
and contrnct bridge was played dur
ing the afternoon.

fee.
After the dessert a short business
session was held, followed by Inter
esting games and a musical program.
Mrs. Fidelia Piatt sang a solo. Ken
neth Raymond gave two piano num
bers. Masters Roderick, Richard and
Jlmmle Merrlman sang two interest
ing songs and Mrs. Meadows, an out-of-town
guest, rendered a marvelous
whistling solo, accompanied by her
self on the piano.

With Program, Tea
Founders' day was observed with
an Interesting program Friday by
members of Washington school P.-T.
A.
After a short business meeting the
numbers presented consisted of a
reading. "The Minuet." by Natalie
Parker, and a group of songs by the
Washington school glee club, under
the leadership of Miss Alice Cromar,
who is given much credit for her
splendid Instruction by members of
the P.-T. A-. A pageant, "This la the
Oak Tree," waa presented with 30
children taking part.
The founders' day candle-lighting
ceremony waa an Interesting feature
given by the past presidents of the
P.-T. A. Each past president was giv
en a beautiful corsage of purple and
gold, by Mrs. J. H. Hoey, the presi
dent. Those taking part were Mes-
dames Bryant, Brockway, Heyland.
Chaney, Dixon, Kroschel, Faye, Flcht- I
ner and Hodgklns.
Following the program, the annual
Washington silver tea was held. The
table was beautifully decorated In
P.-T. A. colors, purple and gold, with
the founders' day birthday cake,
bearing 31 candles, as the center
piece. Mesdames Hoey and Flchtner I
presided. I

to be used for the extension of con
gress work.

The final activities of the year for
the Past Matrons club of Nevita
chapter, No. 93, O. E. 8 . was the one
o'clock luncheon given by the retir
ing president. Miss Alice Hanley, at
her beautiful country home last
Wednesday.
Covers were laid for twenty mem
bers at beautifully arranged tables.
Centerpieces of spring blossoms and
a ml lax with Washington Day decor
ations were the motive carried out.
After luncheon the hostess Invited
the club Into the spacious living
room for a short business meeting.
The curtain committee reported the
purchase of drapery material for the
windows of the chapter home and
displayed the material selected. Mrs.1

up the curtains. Thia offer was very
much appreciated and accepted. These
