With a mountain Hon and a deer
as the principal players, "Sequoia",
one of the most unusual film plays
ever produced starts a three day run
at the Crairrtan theater today with
Jean Parker adding the human touch.
Already being mentioned as the
outstanding picture of the year, "Se
quoia," filmed entirely aeainst the
beautiful Sierr mountain scenery,
unfolds a strange but understandab
ly "human" story of the friendship
existing between the puma and the
deer, running the scale of natural
drama, romance, comedy, thrills and
the rest of the essentials In every
good story.
The story follows the lives of the
deer and the Hon, from their Infancy,
when they are taken In by Jean Par
ker as pets, to maturity, showing the
strange, unbelievable friendship that
grows between the two. There are
comedy bits as the two "youngsters"
are shown in their play; there Is ro
mance In the springtime as the deer
makes love to his doe mate; there la
suspense and thrills as the deer kills
a rattler menacing a Chinese baby,
and the climax, showing the deer and
the lion turning tables on a would-be-hunter,
has been stud to be one
of the, most Intensely exciting end
ings ever conceived.
