tn 50 per cent standing, the Medford
high school debate squad will at
tempt to unravel things today in the
final two matches with Grant Pa,
Last night, the Medford affirma
tive team, composed of Jeanne tt
Thatcher and Caroline Cook, lost tha
decision to the Ashland negative, in
Ashland. Thl tied the Medford
Ashland debates because of the Med
ford negative's victory over the Ash
land affirmative in the afternoon.
Luclen Smith and Catherine Fori
represent the Medford affirmative.
At the present, Ashland ha won
two and lost two: Medford lost one
and won one; and Ashland lost one
and won one. Thl leaves each squad,
tn a tie of 50 per cent each. If tha
Medford negative team defeats tha
Grants Pass affirmative this after
noon in that city, but registers t
defeat from the opposing negatira
team here tonight, thing will be in
deed In a sad state of affairs.
The decision of the conference win
ner in that case will rest wholly upon
the shoulders of the Jude, Professor
James E. Carroll of the University oi
Oregon. He will have to decide on
the basis of the best presentation,
preparation end general Interest on
the part of the individual debater.
In case of two victoria ovei the
Grant pass team, the Medford. for
enslo aquad will automatically b
chosen to represent southern Oregon
in the elimination convat for ri
state championship, now held uj the
local high school.
