imately 16 fouls were called on the

on their opponents. Bob Smith, cen
ter, had threo demerits In the first
five minutes of play.
Coach Burgher made but one sub
itltutlon. sending In Ray Ettllngar
at center to replace Smith in '.he
pocond quarter. Because of recent
illness, Ettlnger was pulled in the
fourth quarter and once more re
placed by Smith.
Earlier In the season, the Medford
quintet bounced to a two-point vic
tory over the Roaeburg players on the
local court, but the small floor of
the Roseburg high school slowed
them down. Many Ireak shots were
pulled by the Indians, because of
their uncanny ability In handling the
ball on the difficult court. Tne

ALL-MEANIE CARD
SIGNED FOR NEXT
SHOW AT AISIIOfiY
Although he probably realizes that
he's risking his neck, rough and ready
Abe Kaplan of New York, the "Jewish
Gent," has agreed to meet Pete Bel-
castro of Sacramento In the main
event of next Thursday night's wrest
ling card at the armory,
Promoter Mack LUlard made the
announcement today, and also dis
closed that "Awful" Al Karaslck of
Russia has been secured to do battl
with "Bad Boy" Billy Newman of
Denver In the semi-final.
From the reputations of this four
some of grapple rs, Thursday's card
promises more flroworks than have
been seen here for some time. Karas
lck and Newman are both well known
In Medford for their unscrupulous
performances, but this Is the flrt
time they have been paired here.
"Bad. Boy" Billy, who has absolutely
no regard for rules, Is adept at chok
ing and slugging. When he meets
Karaslck, who also likes to play rough
but Is Just as capable of scientific
wrestling, the match should provide
many a thrill.
Pete Belcastro haa long been eager
to meet Kaplan, and promises to
make short work of the meanle ten
don twister who haa been responsible
for so many hard feelings In the local
ring. Pete la usually a bad actor
when he gets under an arena spot
light, anything he chooses to turn
loose against the Jewish Gent will
probably meet the favor of the fans.
