Sylvia Sidney Now
In Rialto's Drama
K capacity crowd at th Rlalto
theater last night was greeted by a
unique story, cleverly turned, excel
lently acted, beautifully staged. "Be
hold My Wife," in which Sylvl. Sid
ney give a brilliant performance in
the starring role. It different from
anything she has yet done, and Judg
ing from comment heard from pat
rons, forms a satisfying climax to
th promise the gave with her work
in her previous film apeparances.
Miss Sidney, who has played a va
riety of nationalities in her screen
career, is this tlm cast as an Indian
maiden.
Gene Raymond Is oast as a wealthy
son of wealthy parents, madly in love
with a glr! from whst his family re
gards as a "lower social stratum."
Their efforts to break up th affair
drive th girl to suicide, and Ray
mond, broken-hearted but infuriated,
slams out of his horn rowing ven
geance. Numbed1 by his tragedy, h drives
hit car grimly across the country, to
sraah It, finally, in New Mexico. There
h meets Tonlte, the Indian girl,
played by Miss Sidney. An Idea strikes
him what better way to revenge
himself on his family than to marry
her to bring thl "savage" back to
their exclusive talon a hia wife.
This he doe and what follows is
a sometime grim, sometimes amus
ing, sometimes tragic, but alwaya
dramatic denouement.
