Two Grunts Pass boys, Jackie Dar
rell and Kenneth Patterson, both of
whom have previous police recorde
from here, were In the county Jatt
Thursday In connection with a bur
glary committed in the Elks hall
early Wednesday night. Darrell was
caught In a chase that followed the
robbery and Patterson waa turned
over by his father later In the even
Ing, although the boy denied having
any part in the affair. Darrell readily
confessed his part to police, they said.
The youths are about 17 or 18 years
of age.
Preliminary hearing waa waived
when th two boys appeared before
Justice of the Peace E. W. Madison
Thursday. They were bound to the
grand Jury under 1000 ball each to
await the Jury session, scheduled to
start Friday.
Two boya were surprised by city po
lice while committing the burglary.
They had climbed a telephone pole
In the alley next to the Daily courier
building and walked across the roof
to the Elks' hall, entering through a
window. Glen Harvey, janitor for the
Courier, heard the footsteps on the
roof and the police were notified.
The boys, when they learned they
had been found, ran across the roof
of the Fashion garage and Jumped to
the ground, running north toward
the railroad tracks. Pursuit was made
and Darrell was caught. The two had
parted and Darrell'o partner got
away.
