In the 240th Coast Artillery of the
National Guard, was made by the
state headquarters of the guard here
late yesterday. The removal order was
approved by Governor Julius L.
Meier.
The action was based on the find
ings of an efficiency board which
heard charges against Ratclirfe In
Salem, December 26. He had been
charged with being temperamentally
unfit to continue his post.
Ratcllffe had served since 1929 as
first lieutenant of the headquarter
battery. He enlisted with the guard
January 1, 1023.

per grades. The teacher study group
were organized over the county two
years ago, and constitute the reading
circle work. The club Is considered
particularly helpful to beginning
teachers.
