after the filing of complaints, and

sale of liquor was gathered by State
Liquor commission investigators who
have been In the city and county
for the past month. The local ac
tivity Is said to be part of a state
wide clean-up of Illicit liquor re
sort that have been operating with-
it the regular beer and liquor
licenses. - .
Two women resident of the city
were detained by officials for ques
tioning following the raids.
The authorities aay that patrons
were present In all the raided spots,
but business was not as "Ilvel,. as
usual."

American consular authorities ef

I have been four months In prison
and I am plenty glad to get home,"

SEASON ENDED
Duck hunting season came to a
close on Sunday, rnd was considered
by local aportsmen as one of the
lightest seasons In recent years, al
though during the first several weeks
many birds were brought back to
Medford, with report that In neigh
boring marsh and lake area duck
and geese were numerous.
It Is believed by leading sportsmen
that more Interest was taken this
year In hunting upland game birds
than migratory waterfowl, and If Ore
gon figures are comparable to fig
ure recently Issued from Califor
nia , more licensee were Issued for
upland game birds than for water
fowl by percentage approximating
ten to one.
Despite the fact that huntsmen
seemed to take only occasional trips
into the bird -populated Ktaru'h
area and nearer hunting grounds, t
total or nearly 400 federal duck
hunting stamps were sold at the
Medford postofflce.

and killed In the home of Fred Fein
er. An 11-year-old boy was acciden
tally killed at Shreveport, La., by ft
rifle he received for a Christmas gift.
Louislnna also reported a fatal stab
bing. One man was shot to death at
Evnrta, Ky. Alabama gun fight ac
counted for three deaths. A bank
robber was slain in Nebraska. Fatal
hunting accident were reported from
Mississippi and Missouri.
Discovery of the body of Mrs. Lor
etta Wilson. In a thicket at Port Jef
ferson, N. Y., and the death of Rene
Rata, six month old. who waa
strangled to death In hla Little Rock.
Ark., home when his sleeping suit
twisted about his neck, were among
the tragedies reported.
Sylvia Stredman, 18, of Preston
Idaho, was drowned when her car
skidded on an icy highway and over
turned In a shallow stream. Two
young girls were drowned when they
broke through the Ice on the Blue
river near Crete, Neb. Leroy Maple,
