BEST CHRISTMAS
LIGHT DISPLAYS
WILL WIN PRIZES
Ths annuel Christmas tree lighting
contest sponsored by the Jackson
County Chamber of Commerce will
be again conducted thla year. It waa
announced by chamber of commerce
officials thla morning. The contest
. la designed to encourage outdoor
lighting of homea. trees and shrub
bery, and six merchandise prlzea will
be offered for thla year's contest.
First and second prizes will be pre
sented to the winners having the best
lighted homes exterior; similar prizes
for the best lighted trees, and an
equal number for the best lighted
shrubbery. It la not necessary, cham
ber of commerce offlclala point out.
for winners to be' selected who have
the largest tree, aa those with email
trees will be given an equal chance
The number of lights doea not count
particularly, but the best arranged
lighting system and the symmetrical
lines of the tree will be the deciding
factor.
The Judging will be done Decem
ber 28 by a committee headed by
airs. J. R. Woodford, president of the
Medford Garden club. Those who In
tend to enter the contest in either of
the three divisions are asked to reg
ister their names with the chamber
,of commerce so that the work of the
Judging committee will be made eas
ier. It la pointed out by those in charge
of the contest, that persona engaged
in the electrical lighting business are
not eligible to compete.
In accepting the appointment this
morning Mrs. Woodford made the fol
lowing statement: "Medford always
responds very nicely to the lighted
Christmas tree contest and we hope
that this year our city will look even
more beautiful than In years past."

The school, at which young chil
dren are cared for during the day.

ing to Acting School, Superintendent
C. Q. Smith.
AT VETS' YULE PAR1Y
A community Christmas tree, spon
sored by Medford Post and Auxiliary,
American Legion, will be held Sun
day afternoon at 2 o'clock at Medford
high school. This program Is open to
the public and something new will
be given on this program that has
never been presented In Medford be
fore. Ted and Evelyn Schrader will
present their first complete Kiddle
Revue since the opening of their new
dance studio in Medford last July.
This revue promises to be one of
the most Interesting ever shown In
southern Oregon, as It contains about
fifty pupils be twee a tha ages of 4
and 16 years, from their schools In
tooth Medford ana Grants Pass, some
of which are rated among the best
Juvenile dancers on the Pacific coast.
Another announcement will be
made regarding the balanos of the
program later.
