years ago when he was named sales
manager, had been a member of the
Sacramento Rotary club and a, post
of the American Legion. He served
or several terms as editor of The
Pulse, a publication of the local
Rotary club.
A native of Washington, Swlnson
received, his education In the Uni
versity of Oregon and the Univer
sity of Washington and at the out
break of the World war was em
ployed by The Mall Tribune oi
Med ford, Ore. In the war he saw
active service as an ensign In the
navy. He hnd been with the rock
company since 1024.
He was a member of Phi Delta
Theta and three honorary fratern
ities of the University of Oregon.
His wife, Mrs. Marie Swlnson. is
mother advisor of the Napa . As
sembly, Order of Rainbow for. Girls,
of which her daughter, Barbara, a
high school student, Is a member.
Besides his family, Swlnson leaves
his mother, Mrs. George Hoffman ol
Marysvllle, and two brothers, Verne
D. Swlnson of Yuba City and K.
Deane Swlnson of Napa.
His business associates and a
number of Sacramento acquaintances
served as pall bearers.
The active pall bearers were Stan
ley Taft, Edmond Brovelll. George
Gllpatrlc, M. J. Brtckley, Fred Bon
ettl and A. G. Streblow.
The honorary pall bearers were

Anti-Fat Drug Problem
STANFORD UNIVERSITY, Calir.
(UP) When Stanford university
scientists developed dlnttrophenol,
anti-fat drug, they started some
thing they may be unable to finish.
The reducing agent was used by more
than 100,000 persons lost year, uni
versity officials reported, and Stan
ford clinics supplied 1,200.000 cap
sules to approximately 4.600 persona.

sponsored by the local Eagles, at ;hc
Oriental Gardens. December 19.
Archie Lcgg's band, one of the finest
vii the Pacific coast, vras the official
orchestra for the Diamond Jubllse
here last June.
Proceeds of the dance will be devot
ed to obtaining Christmas baskets for
the needy of Medford which work Is
done each year by the local Eagles
lodge.
The band has recently completed a
contract in San Fmncisco for Bruns
wick and the Mod ford visit will, in
all probability, be the only one which
they will make in Oregon during the
present season.
Although tickets have only been
available for a couple of days they are
selling fast and it la expected that
the dance will be one of the largeft
held in Medford In a long time on ac
count of the popularity of this fa
mous orchestra.
New microphones have recently bejn
obtained by the band, at great ex
pense, for use of the singers, which
will add greatly to the presentation.
