(AP) For the second consecutive
year, Stanford was selected today
to represent the wost In the an
nual Kuse t tournament football
game here New Year's day,
Stanford, as In other years, will
be given a free reign to select iti
own opponent from the east,
south or mldrtlewest. This was
not expected to come before the
end of the week. It was believed
that either Alabama. Colgate,
Pittsburgh, or Columbia, would
get the call.

of the Rose Bowl, Coach "Tiny"

porters having assumed the team will
be selected today.
Kxpect Pasadena Call.
"Naturally we expect the New Year's
day game," said Thornhill. after Stan
ford had beaten California Saturday,
0 to 7. "The records speak for them
selves. Stanford didn't lose or tie a
conference game. No other confer
ence team has as god a record. I'll
back this team against any other m
the country, the stronger the better."
Stanford came out on the long end
of the score after a terrific struggle
with an inspired California team, but
toll was paid In the shape of seri
ously injured players. Fullback Bob
by Grayson, potential all-Amerloan
suffered a coupe of cracked ribs short-
- ly after the start of the game, and
his loss was reflected in & noticeably
weakened team. Keith Topping, right
end. suffered a sprained ankle, and
Stan . Anderson, sub fullback, was
nursing a sever head cut today. ,

(AP) In an editorial headed "win
or lose, fair play comes first, the
Stanford daily today termed the
Stanford -California football game a
"bloody spectacle" 'and criticized the
California rooting section.
The editorial objected to what It
called an "obnoxious pornographic
ditty in an unexpurgated version
which It said was chanted after the
game by California rooters.

36 -Minute Quake
Shakes Up Manila
MANILA. Nov, 26. (p) An earth
quake, which lasted 36 minutes, shook
Manila tonight, wrecking numerous
bam bo dwellings In the slum district
and damaging a few downtown build
ings. Police had no reports of any
Injuries, although two women were
taken to hospitals, suffering from
hysterics.
The quake was declared to be tha
most aever felt here in several years.
