Hillah Shriners Leave on Pilgrimage to Sacramento This Evening

A special train, bearing Shriners
of Hillah Temple and 30 candidates
for degrees of the Mystic Shrine will
leave the Rogue River valley this eve
ning for Sacramento, Cal., where
wearers of the lez of four western
states will hold a gigantic ceremonial
under auspices of Ben Alt Temple
Advance word from the California
capital city points to a Shrine con
clave that will set a new record for
color and brilliance with a program
replete with parados, pageants and
Impressive ceremonial work.
Headed by Potentate William P.
Neville, the officials of Ben All Tem
ple of Sacramento are preparing to
entertain 2500 nobles, Neville Inform
ed nobles' that the ceremonial will
be the most elaborate affair ever to
be attempted by the temple.
Added to Shriners within the Ju
risdiction of Ben Alt Temple, Includ
ing all the Superior California coun
ties, others will attend from the San
Francisco Bay area and Los Angeles.
In addition to the large class of
candidates which will be sent fro:r.
southern Oregon, at least fifty other
candidates will be Initiated, includ
ing several high ranking naval offi
cers from Vallejo.
Others Are Expected
Other out-of-state Shriners are ex
pected from Utah and Nevada.
Potentate C. A. Carson, Jr., will
head the divan from Kerak Temple
of Reno, Nov., and the complete di
van of El Kalah Temple of Salt Lake
City, headed by Potentate George R.
Corey, also is expected. A portion of
the clival of Al Mnlakah Temple of
Iofl Aneelcs will be present, along
with dignitaries from the bay region.
Will Stop Kit Route
The Southern Oregon Hillah spe
cial will arrive at Sacramento at
10:30 a. m. Saturday. An early morn
ing stop wilt be made at Chtco,
where Butte county members of Ben
All Temple will board the train,
which will then proceed to Marys
ville, vhrro the Shriners will stop for
orcakfast and a concert and parade,
and will pick up Yuba and Suttex
county members of Ben All.

Potentate Neville will send an offi
cial delegation to Marysvllle to meit
the Oretionlans and to proceed to
Sacramento with them. i
At Sacramento the ShrinerB will be
met by the Sacramento Shriners at
the Southern Pacific station, and
parade will be started from there to
the Hotel Senator, where Illustrious
Potentate O. O. Alenderfer of Hillah
Temple will have his headquarters.
The various units of Ben All Tem
ple will entertain like units of visit
ing Shriners throughout the day.

At 4 p. m., a colorful parade will
be held, In which will march the
various uniformed bodies of Ben Al
and Hillah Temples. Including bands
drum corps and drill teams, and the
local and visiting nobles.
The Ben All Temple divan mem
bers, attired In their elaborate and
colorful robes, as well as the visittnc
(ivnns, will participate In the pa
rade. The parade will form on J street
ea?t of Fifteenth, and will proceed
down to Second, over Second to K,
and out K to Fifteenth, from where
the line of march will lead to the
Sacramento Memorial auditorium.

In the auditorium a banquet wl'.l
he served, to which all nobles, both
local and visiting, will be invited
Places will be laid for from 1,200 to
2,500 guests.
Following the banquet will be a
brief business session, and the cere
monial will commence promptly at
7:30 p, m.
The following day, Sunday, a golf
tournament will be held on the Del
Paso Country club course, starting at
10 a. m. The visitors will be enter
tained throughout the day and the
Orrgon delegation will leave Sacra
mento at 8 p. m.
