thur Priaulx, chairman of the repub
lican state central committee, today
issued a statement felicitating Char
les H. Martin, democratic, on attain
ing the governorship of Oregon and
pledging the hearty support of the
republican party.
"Although the loss of the gover
norship race and one congressional
seat Is keenly felt," Prlalux said, "we
consider the election of two republi
can congressmen, a republican sec
retary of Btate and two other major
republican candidates an important
victory.
"In viewing the results of the na
tional election, the selection of two
republican congressmen from Ore
gon Is particularly significant. Ore
gon has four republican members
of the fiveman congressional dele
gallon, which marks this state as
one of the few rock-ribbed republi
can strongholds.
"On behalf of organized republi
canism in Oregon I want to extend
to General Charles H. Martin feli
citations In his victory, and a pledge

been defeated for re-election. Paget
had been talked as a candidate for
leader of the house.
