Mrs. John Marlon recently returned

the dance at Derby Saturday night.
High school will have a Hallowe'en
entertainment the evening of October
27. Refreshments will be served. This
is for the high school only.

Andy Rogers played in the orchestra

Mrs. Putney has been one of the
Butte Falls Sunday school teachers
for the past three Sundays.

Chester Ellis sawed his finger near

but It Is getting along nicely.

and la recovering nicely.

Eagle Point Grangers are putting on

farm operations which were underway

noon with Mrs. Charlie Duggan. with a

A program was planned to be given
In conjunction with the achool and
Orange for the purpose of ralsLng
funds to Improve the stage in the
auditorium at the schoolhouse. Re
freshments were served by the host
ess. Next meeting will be held at the
home of Mra. Williams at Ant loch.
Mrs. Otto Tresham is recovering
from a major operation at the Com
munity hospital.
The severe windstorm of Saturday
night wrecked the schoolhouse In the
Pankey district, by blowing the large
oak tree thet stood In front of the
building onto It. School la now being
held At the Messenger home. It Is
reported the district will construct
a new building.
A baby girl was born to Mr. and
Mra. T4d DeFord at Medford, Satur
day. Mrs. DeFord waa formerly Mtas
Mary Hunaley. a graduate of the Sams
Valley high school.
A Hallowe'en party and carnival
will be given by the achool Friday
evening. Fortune telling and every
conceivable amusement will be the
evening's entertainment.
J. L. Rowe returned Sunday from
Lake view with an unusually large
muletall deer which he killed In al
most the exact spot that Olenn Hoist
killed one a few days before. Glenn
Garrett killed a forked-horn on the
O. T. Wilson place Sunday.
Worthwhile prlnes were won by
Sams Valley members of the 4-H
club when their exhibits were Judged
Saturday by County Agent R-. Q.

An Interesting meeting was held
by the Sams Valley Grange Saturday
night, whan the first and second de
grees were put on by the local degree
staff to a class of candidates from
Live Oak Grange of Rogue River. Sev
eral members of the Live Oak Orange
accompanied their candidates and as
sisted the H. E. C. In serving refresh
ments. During the business session
Interesting reports were given by the
legislative and agricultural commit
tees. The O.ange power bill was
thoroughly explained. Talks on Orange
affairs were given by Perry Walt and
wife of Rogue River. Otto Fernham
and Mr. Kearcey promised the Sams
Valley Grangcra some unusual enter
tainment It they will attend their
meeting of the Live Oak Orange. Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Hansen presented de
mits from the Roxy Ann Grange nd
were unanimously voted In as mem
bers of Sams Valley. After refresh
ments were served, an hour ws's spent
In party games.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hoist, accom
panied by Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hoist,
returned Sunday from a visit with
John Hoist end daughter, Mrs. Ernest
Hoi len beak at Long view. Wash.
John Hoist left Monday for eastern
Oregon, where he will be stationed
for some time in government work.

with Wlllard Norton, pugilist, fol
lowing an alleged assault by the lat
er upon the girl's father. Perry
Campbell, was returned yesterday by
officers who bad located her at
Bend.
Norton, against whom an assault
and battery charge was filed, had
not been located. The girl aald she
left with Norton because she did not
want to remain at home after the
fight. They bad stayed with Nor
ton's relatives In Bend.
