HEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORU, OREGON, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1934

G.
Thomu Miller. an attornty o! ,
Grant Pass, according to reports I
looms as a "write-in" candidate for
clrcutk judge tor Jackson and Jose-
phlne counties, agsinst Judge K. L. ,
Norton, incumbent, who won the
primary nomination by an over- t
whelming majority, over two op-1
ponents.
Petitions have been circulated In
Grants Pass and Josephine county
urging Miller to consent to the use
of his name.
4 j Oppoaltlon to Judge Norton, ac
4 cording to reports, seems to be based
upon allegatlona that his Roosevclt
lan democracy Is not atrong enough
to suit Josephine county Democratic
leaders, and former dlsgruntlement
over the manner in which the af
fairs of the Grants Pass Irrigation
district were handled. It Is claimed
that the "write-In" petitions were
circulated for one day, and 1000
aignaturea secured.
Backers of the Miller campaign,
announce they will launch a "whirl
wind" drive the final two weeKs
Of the campaign, and "circularize
the two counties of the Judicial
district.
In the May primaries, Judge Nor
ton was opposed by ttorney A. o.
Bough and Attorney Anderson, both
of Grants Pass. He secured a sub
stantial majority over the combined
vote of both.
Miller Is described by Medford
and Jackson county lawyers as a
long time resident of Josephine
county, with a wide circle of friends
and a pleasing personality.
Interest In Jackson county local
politics continues light, with the
California race for governor claim
ing more attention than any Ore
gon candidacy. There lr practically
no Interest here. In any state or
county candidacy, despite Herculean
efforts on the part of Republican
and Democratic leaders to rouse the
oters.

ON MEDFORD WATER
OENTRAL POINT. Oct. 19. (Spl.)
The Central Point American says agi
tation to secure Medford water for
this city keeps bobbing up. We hear
all kinds of arguments regarding the
subject. Some faVor the Immediate
undertaking of the project; while
others argue that a majority of our
eltlBena are now paying less for vat-r
than they would have to pay under
th new system, and therefore would
never vote for the bonds.
