WOULD EJECT 13
The Sterling Mining oompany and
George K. Young have filed suit In
circuit oourt for &n Injunction against
it defendants, seeking their eject
ment from land adjacent to the mint,
und quieting of tax titles. The suit
J similar to action taken last spring
mrtralnlng "squatters" from mining
cm the property.
Defendants named In the present
action are Harry Foster and wife,
Fred Dumont and William Dumont,
Bret Newman and wife, and Richard
Boa Newman, a son; N. 8. Norton and
V. H, Turnboiigh end wife and son,
and Hurley Hall and wife.
Defendants claim they hold tax
title to the land. The mining com
pany holds these titles are not valid.
Hearing on the injunction has been
set for next Friday morning at 0:30
o'clock.
The complaint sets forth that the
defendants have been placer mining
on the property, with varying degrees
of success.
The Sterling mining company Is
now under operation by a syndicate
for New York and Chicago capital
ists, who have made arrangements
for rather extensive operation.
The mine was formerly one of the
best gold producers In the state, and
h&s been the subject of considerable
litigation In one form and another
over a long period of years. '

human Interest.
Early this morning, J. H. Fletachor,
first lieutenant of the campaign com
mittee for the Med ford Oleemen, got
a telephone call to drive out Into
the country to see a lady who Is shut
In on account of 111 health. What
d)l she want? She wanted to buy
two asoclate membership tickets for
the two Oleemen concerts to be given
this season. Further, she - bought
them to give away to young people
who do not have funds to buy ticket.
Ahe wanted to treat those who cannot
treat themselves. And she is a latly
of most modest moans at that. But
ahe Just happens to have It In her
kind heart to want to make others
happy and help a worthy Medford
org an 1 wit Ion at the same time. She
modestly declined to have her name
used.
Our hats are off to you, madame.
for your goodness of tie art. May the
ether waves, In some way, waft the
Oleemen's melody to you. restore your
health and give you Joy always.
Which reminds us: Who else wants

TAKEN BY DEATH
Mabel Adele Furch, a resident of
Medford for the past seven years, wife
of Harry Furch, panned away at their
residence on South Riverside Tuesdny
morning at the age of 47 years.
Mrs. Furch was oorn at Stockton.
Oal., July 30. 1887. She leaves be
sides her husband, two sons, Gilbert
and Raymond Lageson of Portland;
her father, Henry P. Puaey of Pied
mont, Cal, and two aunts and one
uncle, Mrs. W. P. Hawley, Sr., of Port
land, Mrs. W. 8. McDonald of Pied
mont, Cal., and Goorge Puaey of Ore
gon City. Also one grandchild,
Frances Adele, of Medford.
Mrs. Furch was a member of the
Flplscopal church elsewhere, and leaves
a host of friends who will be sadden
4 by the news of her sudden passing.
Funeral services will be conducted
by Rev. Bartlam of the Episcopal
chaurch, at a p. m., Thursday, at the
Conger chapel, after which the re
mains will be forwarded to Stockton
for Interment.
