RECREATION PATH
10 AID SPORT Wl
UNION CRK. AREA
As a preliminary step in making
the Union Creek resort an extensive
winter sport area, the Bogue River
national forest has constructed a
recreational train for several miles
along the neighboring Rogue river,
which Karl Janouch, forest super
visor, says affords one of the most
beautiful and scenlo walks In the
national forest.
The pathway, which follows the
river from Farewell Bend on the Cra
ter Lake highway, to the mouth of
the mouth of Union creek. Is the
first of & series of projects which
are being , outlined by the forest ser
vice to provide ski Jump, tobotrsran
slides and other improvements neces
sary for an extensive snow sports
area. The work will be carried on
through several of the city's ski club
members. It la Mr. Janouch's belief
that, with Its natural advantages,
Union creek will make a first class
winter resort.
As another forest service project, a
trail Is being constructed around Lake
o the Woods, which will provide lake
visitors with a four-foot walk along
the shore line. This work Is under
the supervision of Clyde Smith, forest
service trail foreman. K. P. McRey-
noids, Junior forester, has made en
Inspection trlpp of the project from
