This la the first of a series of fall

given by the Elks club for the mem
bers, Mr. Strang said.

P.'T. A Conference
The regional conference of the
Pa rent-Teachers' association la to be
held In Grants Pass on Tuesday,
October 16, at the First Christian
church, with, the day's session open
ing at 1:00 o'clock, and closing at
four in the afternoon.
The conference Will Include the
Jackson and Josephine county coun
cils. Mrs. Virginia Kletzer, state presi
dent of the P.-T. A., will be the
main speaker. To be standard, each
unit must have half of Its elected
officers present as delegates, It was
pointed out.

Relief Corps
To Meet Thursday
The Women's Relief corps will hold
an all day meeting Thursday at the
Armory, when the corps will be In
spected by Anna Harmon of Grants
Pass. Two candidates will also be ini
tiated, snd a covered dish luncheon
will be served at noon. Members are
asked to bring their own table service.
Are Postponed
The gym classes planned as a part
of the winter's program for the Girls'
Community club, have been post- :
poned until November 1. because ot
Inability to secure the gymnasium.
The drama class will meet tomorrow
evening at 7:30 o'clock, and on Wed
nesday evening at the same time, the
arts and crafts class will meet at the
club rooms.

rus, which promises to be one of fhi
active musical organizations of the
community , will sing for the teach
ers' Institute Friday, October 19, at
the senior high school at 1 o'clock.
This Is the chorus' first appearance
this year and weekly practices have
been held at the court house.

Outlined Activities
The time of the meeting of the
Wesley League has changed from 7:00
to 0:30 p. m. The topic for discussion
tonight Is "Does God Really Care?"
which Is being led by Jean GllHngs.
The discussions at the Wesley League
have become very Interesting during
the last few meetings, and with new
'material coming the discussions will
be even more Interesting.
With a new cabinet at the head of
the League many plans for activities
have been made for the coming win'
tcr. Some of the activities discussed
are dramatics, formal Initiation for
new members, informal initiation,
basketball, and orchestra.
Any young people Interested In
these activities are urged to attend
the meetings of the Wesley League.

What the Girl
Scouts Are Doing
The first scout hike this year for
troup No. S was Interesting and en
Joyed by all under the direction of It,
leader. The girls left Medford, Satur- 1
day afternoon about 3:30. hiking;
about one and a half miles along thfj
old railroad track between Medford 1
and Jacksonville. The tenderfoot
group took this opportunity to gather ,
their flower specimens so ss to pass
their "Wild Flower Finder Badges."
Arriving at their destination they ;
all sat down under a large oak treJ

Then they Journeyed home arriving
