WITH GRANTS PASS
GRANTS PASS, Oct. 3. Bpl.)
Stepping ahead in the sixth inning
to win, 5-3, Ken Willi aim' Grants
Pass Merchants Sunday rode high
over Hal Halght'a Medford Rogues.
This game In a way settled tie
score that resulted three weeks ago
from a. 14-lnnlng game played be
tween these two teams. Had the
Rogues won, Halght was ready to
claim the privilege of taking his team
to Portland, there to play the Bllts
Welnhard team for the state semi
pro championship If possible.
He had announced that he would
claim the district championship on
the force of thig game, despite the
fact that the Merchants had already
won the Southern Oregon league
pennant. This season Grant Pass
has won six gamea from the Rogues
tied them once and lost to them
twice.
Medford's greatly revamped team,
which on September 9 enabled them
to tie Grants Pass, l-l, In 14 Innings,
gave them such confidence that they
were almost positive of taking the
Merchant "Into camp.' They
brought with them a group of fans
that equaled the number the Mer
chant had out, reports showed.
