who will be six years of age between
Oct. 26th and Jan. 36th may enter
school by taking a test and ah owing
a mental development of six and one
half years. The entering of under
age pupil ta discouraged by the
school system as It has seldom proved
a wise thing to do.
School Areas Defined
Th following elementary schools
of the city, house grades one to six:
the Roosevelt, Lincoln, Jackson, and
Washington. The Roosevelt school
serves all territory east of the center
line of th Pacific highway. The
Lincoln school serve that portion of
the city west of the Pacific highway
and east of the Southern Pacific rail
road tracks. The Jackson school
serves the northwest part of the city,
being that portion which lie west of
the Southern Pacific railroad racks
and north of the center line of West
Main street and Jacksonville highway.
The Washington school serves the
southwest part of the city, or that
territory lying west of the railroad
tracks and south of the center Hue of
West Main street and Jacksonville
highway.
The Junior high school serve the
entire city for grade seven, eight,
and nine, and the senior high school
likewise, for grades ten, eleven, and
twelve.
AU pupils are expected to report to
their own respective school for the
opening day. Following -egtstratlon,
where It can be shown tnat lnaivia-
ual parents and pupils will be better
accommodated by attending at some
other school, a request for transfer
may be filed with the school superin
tendent, but until a transfer can be
effected, a pupil must attend the
school to which he is assigned. Due
to the shortage of teachers this year,
Superintendent Smith said that
nothing could be definitely promised
In the way of tranafer.
