The supposedly distressed ship

quest for a doctor's advice on how
to treat a broken arm.

Rogue River valley total 1851 car
loads. Of this number, 718 cara were
packed and 848 were dlspstched to
Wlllsmette valley and California can
nerlea. The above figures are from
th recorda of the Southern Pacific
freight department.
It la estimated that approximately
half the valley pear orop has moved.
The total crop has been figured at
between 2900 and 1800 cars. The
crop Is now moving, according to rail
road alriea, al the rate ef 18 ear per
day from atorage.

BEEBE RETURNED
10 COUNTY JAIL
Irwin L. Bee be, mill worker, under
s suspended sentence for reckiets
driving of an auto, was scheduled to
have a hearing today before Justice
of the Peace William It. Coleman to
explain alleged attempt to leave the
city without fulfilling promises to
pay his fine, repairs to the auto h
was driving at the time of the crash,
or the pfch of the house on North
Riverside avenue damaged when the
vehicle left the erowded Saturday
night traffle.
Beebe was returned to the county
jail last evening. Justice Coleman
was advised by telephone that Beebe
had checked his baggage on an auto
bus for Oakland. Calif., and had made
other preparations for departure. He
was arrested by stats police at the
request of Justice Coleman.
It Is also charged that Beebe prom
ised to pay a 854 repair bill to the
auto he was driving, and that he quit
his employment a week ago at the
local plant. The auto belonged to a
Miss Cowan and the car U held by
garage for the bill,
The court Indicated that utile
Beebe could make a, satisfactory ex
planation of his movements, the orig
inal set, w nee would be enforced.

The district attorney state that
there are only a few violations, and
that they were due to a misunder
standing. The official says that the
impression haa gone forth that dance
halls could operate between midnight
and one o'clock. This la wrong. The
dancing stops at midnight. Selling
of beer Is permissible until one
o'clock the legal hour.
Written notices have been prepared
for mailing to all danc hall ope
rators.

Led by a personal challenge by
Mayor J, O. Coble of Yreka, to Mayor
Oeorge porter of Medford, the local
gun club will enter the Gold Rush
celebration next Sunday at the min
ing town against a Yreka team In a
trap hoot scheduled to start at 9,
a. m.
As both mayors are noted for their
ability as scattergunners, the con
test Is one which should prove close
