Law Reserves Trades and

zensRussians Are Un
able to Find New Refuge
Bf Ferdinand C. M. Jnhn
United Press Start Correspondent.
ISTANBUL (UP) More than two
thousand White Russian are facing
starvation.
Following the unexpected reversal
rf the government's decision that
Russian emigrant should be exempt
ed from the law reserving most trades
and crafts to Turkish citizen and
ordering that all foreign workers
hould quit their Job on certain
date, these White Russians will find
themselves without employment.
Unlike other national .whose gov
rnmenta are providing repatriation
for their destitute countrymen, the
White Russians are unable to find a
new refuge a practically all countries
axe refusing them admission because
of the unemployment problem.
Persia and Brazil were seen a pos
sible refuges, but both require Immi
grants to possess certain funds, which
most White Russian do not possess.
Compromise Sought
Gabriel Couteaux, the honorary
Mprosentatlve of the Nansen com-:
inlttee, Is contacting the foreign of
fice here and hopes that a compro
mise may be reached.
A similar solution Is being negoti
ated with Greece whose nationals also
have been very hard hit. j
The fund of the American com
mittee for the relief of White Rus
sians, which up till recently has been
able to spend 1300 to 9400 monthly
on assisting the disabled and sick
now practically are exhausted.
Attitude Caused Surprise
The attitude of the government
has caused a great deal of surprise
since heretofore they have shown the
greatest hospitality towards the
White Russian. Political circles are
puttied about this move since rumors
that the measure Is due to pressure
from Moscow appear to be unfound
ed. It Is estimated that the law will
affect seven to eight thousand work
ers, representing with their families
about 38,000 person, of these It Is
estimated that about 60 per cent are
GreekA, 30 per cent Italians, 15 per
cent Bulgarians and the remainder
belong to various countries. So far
600 Greeks have been repatriated and
330 have applied for Turkish citizen
ship. The Russian affected are mostly
chaurfcurs, musicians, waiters ami
workmen, including numerous former
officers who participated In Wran
geil's campaign and came to Istanbul
in 1010.

nicious anemia and loss of blood, a
patient may be saved by Injections
of buman blood of the same type as
his own.
However, recent research hae- con
