ists and hikers will have no excuse
for entering the Mount Ashland for
estry road after today, according to
Floyd Clark, members of the pro
tective forest servOe. A gate was
constructed today at the entrance to
the road near the Crowson Hill reser
voir to effectively shut out motorists
until danger of forest fire la over.

fine. The road was closed last week.
Fire conditions are fair at this time
with no forest fires tn this district

nett shadowed the statesman for some
time before he left Ottawa for Geneva
as a delegate to the League of Nations
meeting, police said today.
Inspector Mortimer Culver said de

unnamed prisoner held on a housebreaking-

the Oak Grove school Friday, Sep
tember 7, under the direction of Miss
Alice Malln, who la In charge of Mabel
Mack's office during her absence. Mrs.
Waldron was elected chairman, Mrs.
Thomas, vice-chairman, and Mra. Salt
marsh, secretary-treasurer. All-day
meetings are to be held the fourth
Friday In each month and a nursery
will be provided, In charge of a com
petent woman. A large attendance is
desired.
The school has been redecorated and
was opened Seutember 10. A success
ful year Is anticipated under the new
principal, Francis Neff, and teachers,
Mlas Louise Hansen and Mtaa Jean
Putman.
