yesterday voted to include the eastern
Oregon state hospital for the Insane
within the city limits ln order that

Fred Starboard, taxidermist, charged
with larceny by bailee, in ft complaint
filed by Roy Davis, had ft hearing
before JiiMlce of the Peace William
R. Coleman yesterday, and waa given
until September 29 to adjust the mat
ter. Davis alleged that last November
he brought to Starboard's place of
business ln this city a bear hide of
the value of (15, to be stuffed and
mounted. He testified he gave Star
board (4 for the work, but as yet has
not received the stuffed bear hide.
He desires Its return, or the equiva
lent thereof.
Starboard told the court that he
had sent the bear hide with another
shipment of furs of valley trappers
to San Francisco for mounting and
other taxidermy work, and as yet has
not received them back. The court
then allowed him three weeks ln
which to straighten out the matter.
The district attorney Informed the
court that similar complaints against
Starboard had been received from the
Rogue River district.

erick Manchester's vegetarian kitten
died because It ate too much spin
ach, lettuce, carrots and potatoes. A
vegetarian blamed the cat's distaste
for milk for Its demise.

marrlaga at Nevada, Mo., March 1.
1882. Mr. and Mrs. Plttenger cele
brated their 52nd wedding anniver
sary last March. They came to south
ern Oregon five years ago, living
here continuously since that time.
He was s man of fine Christian
character, a good neighbor and friend,
and leaves many friends who will
mourn his loss. He leaves his widow,
rs. Sallle Lee Plttenger of Medford;
three daughters (Zelma Plttenger ha
lng passed away ln Infancy) Mrs.
E. A. Robertson, Portland, Ore.; Mrs
Marie P. Rlngle, Muncle, Ind.: one
son, C. C. Plttenger of Medford; ali;o
three grandchildren Dorothy, Max-
lneand Robert Plttenger.
Two sisters, Mrs. M. B. Browning
of Cherryvale, Kas.; Mrs. C. P. Romilc
of Chanute. Kas.; and one brother,
H. C. Plttenger. of Cotfeyvllle, K:is.
Mr. Plttenger was a member of the
Methodist church for many years
Funeral services will be held at

the old mill pond of the Bohemia

Approximately 10,000,000 must be
spent to rebuild he Columbia River
highway between The Dalles and
Trout dale as a result of realignment
necessitated by the construct ion of
the huge Bonne vl 11 edain across the
river.

complete, and an expenditure of
about J2. 500.000 will be nrcessary on
the Multnomah Falls-Troutdale section.
