Suspended Sentence Bob Stewart.
50. arrested Tuesday night by city po
lice, was given a ten day euapended
sentence, when taken Into Justice
court yesterday. Ole Jensen,, 40, ar
rested yesterday morning, was ordered
to leave town.
At Mrs. Stlckel's Mrs. Tom Herrlott
of Prospect, who has been a patient
at the Sacred Heart hospital for the
past two weeks, has recovered auffl'
clently to be moved to the home of
Mrs. Maud Stickler on south Mony
street.
Return from Portland Miss Patricia
Hayes and Robert Hayes returned this
morning from Portland, where they
have been the past two weeka. Miss
Mary Hayes, who accompanied them
north, will remain In Portland for an
other week.
Iveraon to Preach Reverend E.
Iverson of Medford will preach at the
morning service Sunday at the Jack
sonville Presbyterian church, It was
announced today. Word has been re
ceived from Rev. S. H. Jones, that he
will not be able to return to Jack
sonville Sunday.
Officers Transferred Plrat Lieut.
William B. Cleff, Inf. Res., who has
beeu assigned to Camp Tyee, near
Roseburg, has been assigned to Camp
Wlnegksa at Crater Lke. Second
Lieut. Ktnneth A. L. Johnson, Signal
Reserve, Who has been assigned to
Camp Wineglass, has been sent to
Camp Steamboat.
Conducts Service Captain O. R.
Durham of the Salvation Army, Med
ford. conducted religious services at
the Upper Rogue CCC camp Tuesday
evening. His sermon was well received
and Captain Glenn J. Key. command
ing officer, has Invited Rev. Durham
to return for another service In the
near future.

this morning to visit with her aunt,
Mra. D. C. Wheat, and attend school
here this winter.

home in Parma, Idaho, after having
spent the past two weeks at Crater
lake visiting Mr. and Mrs. Darwin
Burgher. Mr. Burgher has been em
ployed as a ranger at Crater Lake for
the past aummer.
Dr. Smith Leaving 03r. Warren D.
Smith, professor of geology at the
University of Oregon, will leave at
the end of the week for Eugene, after
having spent the past two months
employed as ranger-naturalist at Cra
ter Lake. H. H. Waesche, employed In
the same capacity, will also leave this
week for his home in Richmond, Va.
Sentences Suspended Floyd T.
Marl, 30, native of Oregon, and Nor
man Clowers, 18, native of Idaho.'both
membera of the Civilian Conservation
corps, were arrested Monday night by
city police on drunkenness charges.
Their sentences were suspended yes
terday in city court, and both were
placed on six months' probation.
Accident at Gold Hill An accident
at a street Intersection in Gold Hill
at 3 p. m., Tuesday was reported to
city polios laat night by Vernon Ber
nard Smlthley. 38. of Klamath Falls,
whose car collided with one driven by
Charley Benge of Gold Hill and one
driven by Bryan Ward of Gold Hill.
Reports show that Benge made a left
turn without signalling.
Visitors from Oakland Mrs. Nellie
Young and Mrs. Rose Collins of Oak
land, Calif., are guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Jap Andrews and other Medford
friends. Mra. Collins Is the wife of the
late Geo. Collins, former well-known
Medford residents, where he was man
ager of Mason-Ehrman company.

meeting was held at Camp Applegate,
CCC, Wednesday evening with a large
attendance. Dr. James B. Glllls, of
Medford, contract surgeon, gave a
talk on various types of unconscious
ness. Lieut. John H. Gordon describ
ed emergency stretchers for taking In
jured men out of the woods. Superin
tendent McOulre of the forest service
gave a lecture on safety In falling
timber and using explosives. The pro
gram was a part of the nationwide
first aid program being carried out in
the CCC camps.
Cyclist Injured Raymond Miller.
20, 319 Ashland avenue, suffered a
flesh wound on the thigh In an acci
dent Tuesday night on the Pacific
highway one and one-half miles south
of Medford, city police reports show,
when he was struck by an auto while
riding a bicycle. Bernhard Benz, 38, of
Portland, driver of the auto, reported
the accident to city police yesterday,
and stated that he was passing an
other car and did not see Miller and
another cyclist, hitting the first a
glancing blow.

Hammond, district manager of the
California Oregon Power company, was
a local business visitor from Grants
Pass yesterday. Mr. Hammond report
ed great Interest being shown in the
Josephine county fair and Invited all
Jackson county residents to attend.
The 1934 fair opens at Grants Pass
Thursday, Aug. 30 and will continue
3 days with a big program of horse
racing and other sports.
