Nevertheless, the summer quiet has
improved the position of many lines
by giving them a chance to work off
Inventories. This is believed to be
particularly true of textile.
Bopee for a wide business recovery
are now being directed to next spring.
It is possible that by then the big
potential expansion of credit which
has been discussed so long may begin
to move.

PICNIC MONDAY
Workers and their families, and
friends of the Owen-Oregon Lumber
company will hold Labor day plc
nlo at the Elks picnic grounds Mon
day. The affair wlU be under auspices
of the 4-L'a, a mutual organization of
lumber employers and employes. There
will be sports, music, dancing, plenty
to eat, lota of the amber fluid, and a
general good time. There will be a
tew short speeches, but most of the
day will be devoted to relaxation end
fun.
Banks and public offices will close
Monday ft legal holiday. Dozens of
Med ford people plan to hie to the
hills, for the last outdoor holiday of
tho year, and outing before school
starts.

AGED THREE, DIES
Allan Bly Matthews, only son of
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie L. Matthews of
the Berrvdale district, died at the
family home early Wednesday morn-
Inir of acute Inflammation of the
kidneys. He was born In Medford
April 4, 1931.
Be leaves his parents and one sis
ter, Mary Jane, the grandparents, Mr,
and Mrs. W. H. Sutherlln, Medford,
and Mrs. E. L. Matthews, Waynesboro,
Virginia, and other relatives of Med
ford and Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at the
Perl Funeral home Sunday at 2:00
p. m., Rev. Wm. R, Balrd officiating.
Interment In Siskiyou Memorial
park.
