UNIQUE OCCASION FOR
A more unlqua Orange event has
never been held In the United States
than waa recently staged In a rural
church J nut outside the city of Ro
chester, New York, when the pas
tor, who Is the energetlo chaplain of
the New York State Grange, put on
a "Milk Sunday" observance, to
which he Invited Oranges from a
wide area, the occasion being hon
ored by. the presence of many offi
cers, not only of the New York State
Orange, but of the two other large
agricultural groups of the Implro
state, the Dairymen's League and the
Farm Bureau Federation.
This alert pnstor preached a stir
ring sermon from the topic, "A land
flowing with milk and honey, which
Is the glory of all lands," In which
he traced the history of milk as the
moftt universal food of all nations;
pointed out Its henlth-glvlng prop
erties and Indicated the benefit which
would follow If Its consumption In
America could be doubled: all the
time pn tn ting a background picture
of whnt prosperity to the dairy In
dustry would mean to the nation as
a whole.
The story of this unique service
has traveled far and Is likely to be
followed by similar services In many
other sections of the country. Very
timely Indeed was the adaptation of
Milk Sunday" to a reverent and
Impressive church service, and It la
felt to be entirely possible to utilize
other phases of agriculture In sim
ilar directions of public Instruction
and enthusiasm.
The Orange la nothing If not orig
inal, and Its alert leaders In many
states are constantly staging events
like New York's "Milk Sunday."
which bring new and pertinent
truths to public attention. (Orange
