SEATTLE E
WEEK'S SOFT SPOT
(By the Associated Press.)
Mtich to the surprise of all parties
concerned, the second half of the
Coast league pennant chase booms
Into 1U eighth week of play todny
with the first five teams whirling
about In dizzy fashion in their battle
for the driver's seat.
And It's the schedule that becomes
the factor of prime Importance In the
five-cornered race that finds first
place Los Angeles and Seattle only
three games In front of San Fran
cisco and Hollywod, tied for fourth
place.
While Los Angeles tangles with the
Missions at San Francisco and the
Seals and Hollywood renew their feud
at Wrlgley field. Seattle has the week s
soft spot In a home series with rort
land. There's a chance Portland may
misbehave the Beavers licked Oak
land last week but the odds are all
In favor of Dutch Reuther's tribe.
