lent night at meeting between the
oontrol board and lome 3SO growera
nd itx of the leading cinnerymen
tn this eectlon.
Probable court action attempting
o force cannera to paycoda prlcea
for green prunes, and to forestall any
attempt by growers to sell at a lower
price, waa averted u the two fac
tions In the dispute last night agreed
to abide by the code untli a three
day review could be made.
The compromise apparently re
moved a dangeroua situation yester
day when cannera had expressed dis
satisfaction with prices aa set by the
board, by posting lower price 1UU of
their own. The situation affected
directly 8000 Oregon prune growers
who were said to have a total Invest
ment In their Industry approximat
ing 910,000.000.
Under the compromise plan the
cannera agree to three specific pro
posals and the growers made prom
lew aimed to prevent litigation In
the court.
Growers said no "picketing" of can
neries would be permitted until a
definite decision waa reached, al
though they Insisted that code prices
must be met.
Canners agreed to pay code prlcea
for prunes purchased today and to
morrow and Indicated that green fruit
would be bought.
The prune control board promised
to hold an open hearing at the state
house here Saturday to bear auch
complaints aa cannera wish, to make
against the code, which they aaeert
Imposes unjust prices for green fruit.
AH members of the board will ne
